Both. Of. Those. Videos. Were. Made. In. 1983.

They looked a lot better than your 1983 clip you funded and were apart of and those two clips had way more success.

It was more than the marketing and concept that were the root cause of the difference in metrics that is for sure.

    Does that make sense sir?

You are so grumpy and angry that you are arguing with me when you are in the same boat as me. It makes no sense.

How could you help me if I were to show you my music?

  3. You are scared to play us anything. You have talked and talked about how hard it is to make a film, but you can't supply us with the most basic information. Your music! Smoove Grooves shared his playing. I could show you my music in almost any style you'd like. I am not scared.

    It's not cause it's bad.

I am not scared but I have no idea who you are. I have said some controversial things and reputation is important and sometimes it is best to stay anonymous. Especially these days where any convo even from 30 years ago and ruin your present and future.

My music is irrelevant though. That is my point to begin with. I shouldn't need your help or anyone's help to hell at least RENT gear of any quality.

Audio is better with this. If I want to record on a sony c800g I can book a studio at an affordable cost. Photography, videography, and cinematography is insane and unattainable for most and that is the industry's leverage.

  6. Your music is irrelevant? But it's in the title of your post. This whole thread is trying to answer your question about "your music" but you keep talking about cameras.

Celebrities don't make great music and only become famous with the help of money. They spend money and get money and music isn't their main goal but just a tool to facilitate their business.

If you take money from them, they can no longer continue to be famous. In fact, it isn't the quality of the music that makes them stand out, but the side issues that are not directly related to music, which are mostly caused by money, have put them at the forefront.

  9. I'm finishing with this now. I'll answer your original question again and that will be the end of it.
Is it possible to do as your first questions asks? With zero dollars? No monetary input at all?
    No.

I have been trying to tell him. We are fooling ourselves. It's not about the music at all. The trick is to spend as much money as possible to leverage yourself over what most of what the market can afford.
Expensive cameras, cars, homes, models we can't afford because we aren't connected.

People are shallow. You drop a project with all of these things and you indeed CAN turn becoming "famous" into a science.

It's a sure shot way to become idolized.

JJ, is your music as real as Lil Nas's pectorals (Billy Eilish has a real chest by the way)? If not, let us hear your music and stop with the hedging and ridiculous excuses. If you don't step up then anyone watching this thread will know you are just words on a page, no sage and acting half your age. Also, there is a HUGE difference between teaching someone and trying "to school" them. Please educate us, elucidate, fill us in for the win, win, win.

I have too much time to kill today, hahahahaha.

Please move forward. Many of us have chosen the right words. You were given tips to overcome that barrier and get what you call cinematic video clips (for no/low budget). But all of that seems to have been wasted. You started off like "cinematic clips->fame", need expensive equipment for no/low budget. Then you turned that to "money->good music->cinematic clips->fame". After having been shown that fame/success is not guaranteed and above mentioned tips you focus on "money->fame->money".

While it's ok to focus on anything you like, please try to focus on a sharp needle that will make the bubble you are in right now pop to unleash something.

I feel you are attracted to rap somehow. To finish this off, here is a clip that is not cinematic but delivers. one-shot take. Sure you see some stuff that YOU probably don't own and can't afford. But don't let yourself be cheated into believing everything you see is real (in general). I hope you listen to what is being said in that video.

Please let the phrase at around 4:17 get you, and ask yourself "WHY?" and "HOW..."

Cheers man, I think we're done here.

    Interesting thread.
My question is, why do you want to compete with the people at the top, and what makes you think that would be good for you, and good for the people to whom your music could possibly speak, were they to find you?

Can you handle the fame? There are people who struggle with the bare basic stuff of life while having enormous musical talent. How would a shy musician who can't even hold eye contact with a woman for more than two seconds deal with being recognized on the street? For some people, even getting five comments on YouTube is too much.

And why do you think it is appropriate for someone who is at the very beginning to be expected to deliver the same kind of style and quality as someone who is at the top? It's like, you just bought your first book for lessons for a foreign language, but want to dive into 16th century poetry of that language straight away. Nobody who is reasonable and sane would ever expect that. If you look at a lot of musicians who have made it big now, their first videos were very poor quality. But the viewers and listeners who found them at first experienced something relatable, something real. And they were happy to be a part of the journey towards success, and towards gradually experiencing more high quality videos over time.

Honestly, when I see a musicians with 5 subscribers on YouTube and with a tryhard "look at me, I am very expensive" kind of video, it comes across as cringeworthy to me personally. I am less likely to take them seriously. Why? Because they obviously do not take themselves, and their own limitations, seriously.

I think a lot of people are tired of the superficial and shallow culture at the top of the music industry. They pine for something real, for someone they can actually relate to and whose ideas they can make a part of their own. I found a few musicians whose music I have gobbled up lately, like, listening to a track dozens of times and stuff. They have poor presentation, bad branding, videos are barely worth mentioning. But it feels like their music has become a part of me. Did Skrillex with his polished, Hollywood style videos become a part of me just his videos look like a blockbuster movie? No he didn't, and he never will.

Uh? ... obviously? I mean, when I say that his videos didn't become a part of me, it's completely reasonable and sane to assume that I am ... mad at him? :dunno:

Are you saying if he had a non Hollywood video you wouldn't be mad?
A part of you? Is he a part of you? Are you Skrillex?

No, I'm saying that not only do you not understand sarcasm, but that you completely misunderstood my post and that it is unreasonable to assume that I have any problem with a musician just because I say that his videos do not speak to me.
