Hey there! As usual, I'm sharing another song I've been working on. This time I'm pretty happy with the results. Hope you like it and enjoy it. Was a difficult one because of the layers I tried to put on it. Any feedback will be much appreciated, as always. Thanks to this place I've been more likely to share my creations, something I never thought I would.

 

Fuk yes. sounds dope man

bass sounds gnarly. especially at 2:25 through that section. really nice job making it sound thunderous without getting too sub-y. parallax?

 

Song writing wise, it needs more attention, what i mean is, while it sounds good and the guitar tone is great, the song in itself is a bit generic so is the solo, needs a bit more djent? that being said, what drums did you use on this?

Mayby is the device I'm listening on not suitable, but my first point would be: Where is the melody? Is there a melody?
I hear the structure of a song (change in chords etc) but there is nothing on top that leads me from beginning to end

The genre is not my taste but I guess you know what you are doing. The basic elements of metal(?) are there I guess.
A lot of notes in a mesh of guitar sounds. Syncopation in rhythm where suitable and a very rare spot where the volume changes.

To me, there is nothing that stands out other than the solo that lifts itself above the backing track and furthermore the surprising ending that on the other hand doesn't make much sense within the context of the song. Maybe it could if the song had vocals that told a story.

On a positive note: keep sharing your work. I'll probably never cause I like to believe that there is some quality to what I do. Would be hard to swallow If making music is something where I suck too

Thanks mate! For bass I use STL Tonehub, to avoid sub freq and give more attack put a HighPass at 50hz, Lowpass at 5khz and boost around 1khz. I think the preset pack i used was Eric Ron's pack.

 

Thanks for your comments! I give some space for future vocals, beside that my technique isn't on my ideal point, so i understand and share your opinion. The drums were a combination of GGD's Modern Fusion and P4

About melody is something I will be working, in the future when every song i've been doing is pretty well mixed I will add some vocals, so there will be the melody that is lacking in this track. About making music and making it public, I think no one sucks when you are in your path learning. This kind of feedbacks always helps to understand your weakness and stronger points. There is no such thing as failing as long as your are learning. Cheers mate!

 

ahh ok. i'm a tonehub user as well. ill have to pick that pack up. thats a really good prog/modern metal bass tone.

edit: just listened again. dude this track needs vox... do you have a vocalist or do you only do instrumentation stuff? i just built a nice vocal booth, and bought a new neumann condensor and ua preamp ive been wanting to stretch out and i have a pretty brutal snarl if you wanted to send some stuff i'd love to mess around on it. ive never collab'd like that before but not long ago when i was touring playing more alternative-ish stuff i always was secretly wishing i was in a metal band haha. would be more than willing to send you some samples of my stuff if needed so you know i'm no scrub. just lmk. i know how sacred our music can be to us though so i won't feel bad if you dont

You've probably heard of Devin Townsend? Consider how much song writing, arrangement and dynamics he can fit into the same amount of time.

It could use some re-balancing as it doesn't sound like it has much up top over 8K, but if that your game, so be it.

I know you are right when you say that you can't do anything wrong when learning. To me it feels different though but that a struggle if been dealing with whole my life.
Glad to read that I didn't miss the melody because of a faulty audio device/laptop ;)
