I'm having some difficulty with this process right now. I have decided to convert all my older libraries from wav to ncw, but many samples don't get converted. So I tried your method of creating a new instrument, then dragging all the wav files into it so that I can convert that instrument. However, it seems they've changed something in kontakt (I'm using 5.5) and now I can only add like 108 samples at a time no matter how many I have selected.

Do I need to go find an old version of kontakt and create the instruments in it so that more than 108 wav files can be added at a time? If yes, I may be screwed, I looked around and couldn't find one. :/

 

yes, youre right - they have changed it, thats why i keep all my old kontakt versions - the last working for me is 4.1.3 on mac - 4.2.X already limits the amout of dragged samples to about 128 - btw. guess its a bug used here as a feature

 

I see. Thank you for your reply. I will try to find an older version to convert most of them, and the ones that only work with a newer version will have to be done manually at 108 samples at a time, I suppose. I don't know why they changed this, this feature (or bug!) is a very bad idea.

Are there any downsides to do this with kontakt 6?
Can a lot of storage space still be saved or only with old libraries?

 

The biggest downside is that once converted, you can never load the patches in Kontakt 5 again. But yes, you can still save a lot of space doing it.

If I could think of a stupid question for you to answer, I would. But it's not within me, sorry!
Batch Compress will save you space, and Batch Resave makes them load faster because Kontakt recreates the filepath/indexing or something.
BUT if you Batch Resave, the lib will only work from that version of Kontakt onwards I.E. if it was a lib that was originally for 5.8.1 and you Batch Resave in Kontakt 6, it will not be usable in 5.8.1 anymore.

The process is just the same. It's really simple. I don't believe you need pictures to walk you through it.
All the vids on YT that explain it are just over a minute long!
