If anyone else has this problem, it would be good to find where this process is running from

    $ pwdx <PID>

Then see where this process is reaching out to

    $ sudo netstat -nlp | grep <PID>

Don't worry if you don't know. Just delete all files as spoken about earlier.
If you have the app installed.
We need people who know how to check, no disrespect.

I did not witness such issues on Windows so far, but thanks for the warning. I installed an older version of the App more than 1 year ago to a machine which has stayed offline ever since, so maybe only newer versions of the App show this intrusive behaviour?

    VERY useful, thank you!
Mine was downloaded only 4 months ago.
And again, you are also the 5th* person on Windows who reports all is fine.
So we are starting to see some patterns already now...

3* of us on macOS have reported the same experience here so far so imo it doesn't now matter about which macOS.

    *Edited: to reflect recent comments.

What a stupid thing to say, of course the os is important, i have nothing like this happening on my win 10 machine so the os may well be important.

I understand you like to rant and shout about things but thats not the way to deal with things.

All details including things that agree with your original post and details that dont agree with your post are relevant.

I also have a new mac mini m1 and i dont have any of the problems you have. I also have the spitfire labs on a external drive with no slowing down of the system either.

Since you said you had this problem while the external drive was being accessed, have you tested this drive for errors?

that process is started and kept active by launchd, just unload from the terminal. i use LaunchControl, it is a gui to manage launchd.

i have the spitfire lab installed for a long time, i have not noticed any performance problems on my mac, ciao!!

3 macOS users have reported here the same issues and the fact that somehow the app has root priviledges, therefore this is what I consider a crime on behalf of 666Fire Audio.
Hence why it doesn't matter what macOS the 3 of us are on.
Unless you want to help the devs with bugfixes for spyware?
    :hahaha:
    Yes. Thank you.

Know nothing of Mac, but nothing like this on Win10 Pro latest version. The installer is clean and Process Explorer returns no results on searching "spitfire".

Thank you for your info @demberto. Would seem it's only happening on macOS.

    Well done, Sherlock!
Nearly 2000 views later and you've finally put the world out of misery.
I so wondered why I made this post.

Please help, if you can, but don't write off-topic comments and clutter up this important thread.
    Thank you.

Thanks for the heads up @Smoove Grooves !

I've not installed any Spitfire stuff on Macs so I've not seen this behaviour, and now I'm not going to, however one of my Windows comps has Labs installed and it doesn't do any weird background stuff.

So be careful out there folks!

    Well you obviously haven't.
    It was everywhere.
    In Library/Application Support/Spitfire Audio.
    In Library/Application Support/Logs/Spitfire Audio.
    In Library/Application Support/Preferences.
    In Applications.
    In Library/Audio/Plugins/etc
There may have been more, I can't remember.
    I checked hidden files too.
It's just the obvious places. Or use an uninstaller app.
Please forgive me, but it wasn't exactly my main concern to note down all the places I found for the benefit of others when my computer was frying! haha.
But hey, I got the message out.

If you really HAVE deleted everything, and it desists after you shut down and reboot as it did for me, then that's good.
But it could also mean that the app was regenerating itself prior to this...just like malware...
Because I too thought I had deleted everything at first...

FYI: at this moment no problems with LABS on my Windows 7 desktop and Windows 10 laptop...
    Keeping fingers crossed...

I got LABS (and a few paid Libraries) installed for about ten months now on Win10, and never encountered anything that would come close to what you're describing.
Never noticed any kind of misbehavior (other than I have to "repair" the Libraries from time to time, but that's another topic).
Just checked with GlassWire and SystemExplorer, no Spitfire activities at all in the past two weeks (didn't use the Libraries for quite some time).
So, I hate to say it but it seems this is a Mac exclusive issue, since all Win users report zero problems.

    Thank you.
And I hate to say the very same thing a 3rd time too, but it's all good! :)
I will edit the thread title now I can see that people are going to keep saying this.
