lots of new stuff coming from these guys, now my only request would be, Behringer

    REDESIGN YOUR LOGO PLEEEEEEASE!!!!!

its not totally awful but its not refined enough, just a little touch from a decent designer would make wonders. as it is now it totally brings down the esthetics on their machines.

I wasnt convinced by the sound of behringers TB303, thought it sounded OFF, wondered how can anyone else not hear the difference!
But there is the chance that it could be tweaked with the trim pots internally to satisfaction,
But it dont believe they make perfect clones of circuits, they fukk with them

there's only a couple emulations that capture legitimate analog feel, opx pro comes real close but is still a bit lifeless

im no hardware fan but no doubt there is a given comfort in using hardware controls. now, that is taken into account only if the machine is going to be of central importance in my setup, classic stuff that i think ill be using continuously.

hahaha. Have you ever tried any of these Oberheims? The OB-8, Matrix 12, Xpander, OB-Xa? Some emulations sound good (specially to those that never played or owned the real ones) but they don't capture the nuances of an analog counterparts. Moreover, hardware is not obsolete. If it were, there would not be any emulation or cloning of hardware. Indeed, I invite anyone to send me files of any Oberheim vst and I will post the same file with the hardware playing so everyone can listen to what I just said. I can do it with the Oberheim OB-8, Matrix 12, and Xpander.

    An interesting point.
But despite these times where software synth have nothing to envy to their hardware brothers, hardware synths are here to stay and still selling well. There must be a few good reaons for that...

Better post some sound example that you think software cannot recreate...

Btw, how do you find space for all these synths and other musical equipment? (I am talking to all the synth "collectors").

You should open a thread about this topic. It would make for some interesting reading. Count on me to give you some crazy answers and post some photos of what "we" do for space. I am trying to keep this thread on topic. @No Avenger already had to move and delete 10 comments including some of mine.

Already 5 synth keys and right now I use only a Komplete Kontrol mk2 right now with my Repro , Diva and Reaktor ... No more hardware for me , lack of space ... But , maybe if I think a little, I will find space for a Kurzweil K2700 :wink::wink::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I never said that soft synths can't recreate hardware synth sounds because that is exactly what some of them are doing. What I said was that there is certain character to the sound emanating from an analog synth that the software emulations get close but can't nail it 100%. This is more noticeable when you dial distortion on soft synths. You start hearing aliasing and the warmness found in hardware synths dissipates. A soft synth thrives when no pushed to its limits. Same goes for digital emulations of hardware EQ's and comps.

Knowing Behringer, we'll be lucky to see them this summer.
They have so much sh*t in the pipes that it's no wonder their ass-embly line is plugged up.
Looking forward to eventually seeing and buying lots of this gear but will not hold my breath waiting.

The biggest problem is digital distortion, not the synth sound (but it's true that old softsynths were not great, aliasing and too loud filter resonances). I don't think analogue hardware EQ and comps are even worth using in professional production unless you are trying to fk up the sound a bit.
While some vintage stuff has a sound on it's own, I associate it more with technological limitations (cheap components, nonlinear distortions, crosstalk) leading to degradation in musical material. It's worth adding to a record that fits certain aesthetics.
Hardware amps and waveshapers etc are worth having, if someone is producing rock, more aggressive electronica etc, especially, for live performances, the cpu hit for quality oversampled distortion is not worth it.
