I left the site for two months and created an album

Discussion in 'Work in Process' started by Lenny Belardo II, Jan 25, 2021.

  1. It has taken me over forty years to accept that I will never be a great, or even a good singer, but I decided to push past that barrier and create songs with a friend who I have known for sixty years. We both live isolated lives in the country although we are half a continent apart. He is not in the best of health, so finishing this was my gift to him. I gave voice and expression to his thoughts. It may not be in a style that is to most listeners tastes, but that does not concern me. I do however believe that a book that nobody reads may as well not exist. Same with music that is not heard. Please take the time to listen and follow us. It would mean a lot to my friend.

Another example of some things enabled by technology, and something very good.
The collaboration, the creation, the sharing of it...
Some of that still possible without the modern tech, but having it made so much easier to achieve...
Even the friendships that benefit from the tech ...
Who isn't closer to friends and family due to the tech of phones / internet?

And good stuff so far, "Lenny"
Just listened to a couple before feeling an urge to reply.

I can definitely hear the influences of 4 decades in your songs, and it's a breath of fresh air. Makes me long for the days where guitars, harmony and melody took front and center. By the way, you have a lovely singing voice and really suits the mood and style of the songs.

Just bought your discography. From one grumpy old guy to another, glad this book exists and thank you for giving me the opportunity to read it. Much love and respect from sunny Barcelona.

@Lenny Belardo II Congratulation to you and your friend for a very well made album! Thank you for sharing your music with all of us. Listening to the songs brings memories from Alan Parson Project, Big Country, to Oasis. You should stay away from here more often.

Two months out well spent by the sounds of it.

Are you actively promoting this anywhere else apart from on here?

    Well done Mr. Lenny!

    I've become a Serial Listener!:shalom:

  12. I should ban myself for life and see what I can do. But, no I have no plans to place these songs anywhere else. Largely due to my lack of familiarity with digital promotion. In the early 80's I was signed to a major label and publisher. Played live at least five nights a week. Recorded an album at EMI studios. Our manager did all the work. I can't even manage myself.
Since you're stuck in the 80's, here's the first song I wrote in 1981. Oberheim OB-X, Pro-One, Emulator 1 and Simmons drums.

Wow. How cool is that? The vocalist sounds like Sheena Easton which would be the right era I guess.

Good job man, but I suggest you forget about Bandcamp and instead, put them songs on Spotify.

  15. I'm too old and my music is too much like "Dad Rock" for Spotify. Although to tell the truth, I don't know anything about Spotify.

I agree with aymat, The Pirate & others detecting lots of influences.
It's kind of a weird reminisce tip-of-the-tongue thing to me...

  18. I managed to get through 17 songs without one mention of a Wet Ass Pussy.

Hi, followed :) Nice songs and agreed you should upload on spotify. Mostly because people listen on this app on the daily basis and a lot less on bandcamp. this would go on my work time playlist for sure. I'm 27 by the way lol. I like rock from the 60's and 70's but play techno music.
So keep making music for us weirdos

  20. Thanks from all the weirdos of the world! I also spent ten years back in 1990 making techno. For this material I only moved to Bandcamp from Soundcloud because of Soundclouds upload limits. Maybe this should be a separate post, but do you know anything about the best distributors to get on Spotify? CDBaby is the only name I recognise.
