Ooh.. It's been a long while since I've checked out Addictive Drums, but I might have to again and grab the expansion.

I've actually been doing a lot of vintage sounding type stuff lately. I've been a bit lazy with drum stuff, but grabbed UJAM's Beatmaker Vice. I've been liking that a fair bit but it is fairly limited (kinda more geared towards Synthwave stuff).

I'm going to check for AD and the expansion.

@CharlieCrizzle Ease of access to cell parameters and settings using the mouse. Battery 4 is awesome but 3 is just more easily configured. The drag and drop feature in 4 is cool though

The thing is, if you think of the Pads as Cells, Maschine is the greatest hardware version of Battery... E-V-E-R.

If only they could fix the internal MIDI routing problem

@odelay SB DrumComputer is an excellent gem. If you like the sounds then why not use it?
It's definitely one of the better drum instruments in the synthesis ballpark.

I'm happy with basic stuff, Battery, uTonic, Maschine and Ableton Drum Racks with loads of Simplers in them.

Battery for heavy duty stuff, for layers, velocity crossfades and the like. Maschine for quickly tapping out beats. uTonic for creating whacked out drum hits or tuned drums. Ableton mainly when I'm working with someone else who doesn't use the others, but also because you can have complex FX chains using the stock Ableton plugins.

I haven't used that one in a while, but I think Im going to go back to trying that one too (in addition to addictive drums, that is, as I mentioned in an earlier post). I think I actually will like Spark a bit better. Is 2.4.0 still the latest version? I see that's the newest available on the sister site, but it's going all the way back to a 2018 post, so I wondered if that is really the newest.

So many suggestions in here. Which one has the best, most intuitive sequencer, including the ability to drag and drop to the host where you can edit it further? I mean, it should allow rolls, easy change of timings etc..

yeah 2.4 is the latest as far as I know- fortunately they ironed out the MIDI import - drag on drop onto the sequencer screen

just make sure to set the CC# channel numbers for each pad (shift click) to match up with your MIDI Beat/notes

    and off you go!

    GEIST2 Fxpansion

intuitive sequencer? check - 8 engines to mix and match and trigger these 'scenes' with a key

drag and drop? check. drag the pad to the host and/or drag a MIDI Beat from your explorer to a pad

    rolls? check.

easy change of Timings? check. has an exhaustive List of groove templates

    other stuff? check

Every software drum machine is unique and has its own virtue and attributes. But i find GEIST to be the most comprehensive and the most ideal to start with

    @cexcean
Thank you. I often heard that Geist 2 is considered a "DAW for percussion". It looks very complex for sure.
I heard some bad things about FXpansion though. Apparently their authorization app is glitchy, and they haven't updated this in a long time or something? I'll have to get this the next time they do sales. Passed on their last offer.
