    Hi there;

I would like to hear your perception about the following question.

Which one do you prefer to use when it comes to a convolution reverb?

    LiquidSonics Seventh Heaven Professional
    LiquidSonics Reverberate
    AudioEase Altiverb
    Slate Digital VerbSuite

    Thanks in advance.

This is one of the problems when you have too many free plugins.
You don't know them, you use them badly and in the end, you don't have time to make music anymore.
    Thank you R2R

@TranceDream, I have nothing against you, it's just an observation and sorry I can't answer, I don't use these reverbs.

Sorry again but I'm a Mac user and right now I'm a little cranky

From what I understand about LS's Fusion-ir, because an ir is sampled in parts adjusting parameters doesn't affect the entire sound of the reverb. With classic ir, say you adjust tail length that stretches everything resulting quality decrease of the whole sound. With fusion, only late reverb is affected.

Also LS blends algo with ir's with some of their options, so making changes to a preset won't affect quality at all. So the engine is simply better than altiverb but its perfectly ok if one prefers the library of altiverb.

Audioease AltiVerb *was* the defacto standard ~5 years ago. But technology has evolved over the years and most professionals have switched to 7th Heaven as it is considered to be better. Maybe that answers?

    However AltiVerb still sounds fantastic.

The very same question between Altiverb and the also very recent Slate Digital VerbSuite Classics (+-14Gb) has been recently asked too...would be interesting to add that to your multiple choice survey

We PC users forgive you because we are having a blast :winker::rofl:
And of course I'm not making music! I'm a metalhead and I've too much ampsims to try instead of these trivial things like making music. Or making my bed. Or to eat...

Now seriously, it's an interesting question for me. I'm currently fine with more modest IR and algorithmic reverbs but you never know.

LiquidSonics Reverberate is the choice for me personally over Altiverb. Makes any quality IR sound like it should (referring to Avid Spaces so far).

Tried the others except for Seventh Heaven. 8GB download for locked IR format. Come on. May sound great but, I hate locked IR formats. Put up with Altiverb because of quality sound & function.

Should say that I have not installed the data file for Reverberate. Have plenty of IRs to choose from without being locked into one format.

I'm pretty confident that in a blind test where a large hall reverb was added to a synth line, 90%+ of users on here wouldn't be able to tell which was the more expensive between Liquidsonics/Altiverb/Slate etc (i.e. the expensive ones) AND the stock reverb that comes with a DAW.

Same goes for all these high end compressors etc.

Unless you have some high end monitors, and are producing music at a professional level, I very much doubt you will be able to hear the difference.

Most people will be applying the Alan Partridge decision making process.
"Which of these wines is the most expensive?"
"That's the one I like the best"

LiquidSonics Seventh Heaven Professional is overrated, if you intend to buy please save your money. I've owned it for 2 years and it's collecting dust, most protected yet the most trash especially for the price.

I'd go even further and say no matter how much you focus on the sound, no one can hear the price tag, only the sound. And therefore this
is correct too. But what one can hear, even without high end monitors, are the differences in the sound. This is absolutely possible.

Comparing reverbs is like comparing preamps, with 1 source it won't make a huge difference but in a mix its then sound defining.

Well 19 years ago, and is still obviously rated now.
But as was mentioned above regards editng affecting IR universally, this view may change a little bit now. I don't know.
