like a pop in the audio? maybe a voltage regulator would help

So you are running on the same circuit as your fridge for a start. Just change that!
I'm no sparky, but somehow the surge of when the fridge turns on again to keep the temp the same must be affecting your external soundcard?
I mean, it has to be an external soundcard with its own power for this to even be vaguely possible, because for it to just affect an aspect of your pc should be impossible.
Kind of hard to believe though...

Sometimes when the bathroom light & fan get shut off I hear a pop in my monitors too, but it never turns them off. That's scary.

If all else fails look for a cheap UPS to provide clean power to your gear. Probably excessive but you never know.

Sorry I didn't mean shut off electrically, I meant audibly. When it happens for me the pop does bring the levels down but only for a second, in a downwards compressor sort of way until the pop sound fades but the sound always returns to where it was so it's a bit scary his sound shuts off due to that.

And very strange and almost unbelievable that it's his pc and not his monitors!

...sockets that are on the same circuit!
You have a distribution board, the ring circuit comes off there. Your cooker will be hard wired, your fridge would be on the kitchen circuit, the kitchen is usually on it's own circuit, but not in your case.
    And OH! I was correct!:

So? They're probably all on the same cicuit too by the sounds of your problem!
Or do you just like to record in the kitchen?
Pretty much guarantees you only have one circuit there!
Instead of how it's done properly.

I.E your sockets for your gear are spurred off the same circuit as your fridge. The same circuit that your whole studio flat is on.
A surge protector/UPS is your answer anyway.

fridge is the culprit, poor power supply, as well as adding a good power stable supply to your puter (as per flappy's post), do the same to your fridge, the intial switch on of the fridge compressor is like a thump of an amplifier with the sound turned up at volume 10+ (240v/120v)when switched on, which you don't want with a computer using 12v/5v/3v circuits (earth/ground can also be a problem with electrical interference)

Maybe a simple Power Strip Surge Protector will do the trick...
