If you can access the other computer and see it's connected to your network, and vice versa, it should theoretically work. But download audio gridder and see it for yourself how they do the exact connection, I have the same curiosity as you anyways.

Thanks for the post! This was really handy for me to try some of these new wave plugins on my Mac. Simply as installing the server on a Windows VM on my Mac and the vet plug-in on Mac OS. Successfully tried relab with only 3ms latency :)

I’m trying to set up AudioGridder on a VMWare virtual machine, but when try and launch it I get the error “AudioGridder failed to bind to the server port 55056. Terminate the app that is blocking the port”

ive teed disabling the firewall and changing Network settings but it’s not made any difference.

Any idea how I fix this please and what correct network/firewall settings in VMWare should be?

the ethernet standard specifies a max cable length of 100m, you should be fine

I;ve been trying it since may 2019, and it has improved since.
And of course you can use it via a router, that's how I use it. I've also tried it directly connected one computer to another but I had the same results as via a router.
To me it's not as good as I expect it to be, but it's me.
I always have a latency of 43ms and to me it's a no no for now.
I wanted to use it live so...
Otherwise everything works fine for me but again it's the latency.
I hope it will drastically improve and get close to such as the Waves SoundGrid system some day in the future and I might reconsider it.

I think Its already running. Look into your taskbar icon thing on the bottom right side of windows, you are trying to initialize a 2nd instance and it wont let you do it.

The program works good for mixing. Its a lot easier to use than some other similar programs.

You were right! it was already running... but with no visual feedback at all to let you know that... grrr

So its up and running on the VM, but the plugin in Live doesn't seem to see the server. When I click on the little server menu in the plugin and try things like 'Rescan' - again absolutely no visual feedback to let you know if it is doing anything or message to say 'no server found' let alone any help as to what the issue might be. Just says "Not connected" all the time. Terrible UX design... apps like this annoy me as it's totally unnecessary to make the user feedback that bad. Been trying to get it working for a couple of hours now but no joy.

EDIT: Got it working so all is now forgiven. Turned out to be a firewall setting on the Mac that was blocking it. Pretty cool when it works :)

Sure you can use it. A router or hub is the most used way to connect a computer network.
Like others well said the only thing you could need to touch is some router settings.

Hey. I am currently studying and testing cloud access to all plugins that are on the network for Windows (I collect and test them) If everything works out, I will make an application, or I will tell you how to arrange it manually. So far, everything works with samples, loops and plugins that don't require additional files around my system. (only vst3 and dll)

The presence of an included computer is not required, everything is already uploaded to the cloud, which is completely synchronized with your computer, or just what you need. When loading (testing on Fl Studio), a plug-in or a sample can be loaded from the cloud. The update is also automatic, because I need to replace the plug-in with a new version and that's it, you also automatically load it into your sequencer.

While I will be testing on my own plugins, later I will connect sound toys and others.

Using this on a Virtual Machine, I am finding some plugins to be so tiny as to be totally unreadable - is there anyway of controlling the size plugins display at in the AudioGridder plugin? - changing my display resolution on the VM doesn't seem to make any difference
