VST3 Breaking news

VST3 does not eat cpu when disabled!
Unlike VST2 (always active even when in bypass), on VST3 it is possible to automate the plugin chain on/off to save cpu.
example: background voice singing only for 1 min during a whole song
I only found out today and got excited (an audio geek satisfaction)

    Happy Holidays!

hahaha This has been known for a long time now :) Happy you received that information. I waited with it for a while to transfer to VST3, as you coud not easily organize VST3 in Cubase. But since a an update or 2 ago you can and I have been slowly switching to VST3.

Man I love you, there are so many things we don't know. There should be an endless list of things we should know about audio stuff.
I, for some reason, always tried to use only Vst3 because... it's new tech, right? So, why wouldn't I, right? I am not gonna try to understand
every single reason why something new comes out why should or shouldn't I upgrade, right? Too much stuff happening... lol.
Awesome to know this benefit mate.

VST2 plugins support this "breaking news" feature depending on the developer's abilities. Bad developer doesn't know how to do it with VST2, a good one does. Same as side-chain, inputs and outputs. These are all supposedly advantages of VST3, which by some miracle have been in many good plugins for ages.

VST3 plugins are less stable and more problematic, generally. Have you ever read "use VST2 version of the plugin because VST3 is not as stable" from some developer's mouth? I did. Not once, but a dozen of times.

But hey, whatever works for you.

    Cheers!
