As the title says, I'm using Fabfilter Q3 and it has a dynamic function. Some people said the dynamic EQ and the multi-band compressor are mostly the same.
Thus, if I use a dynamic EQ, do I not need to use any compressor?

No exactly. EQ bands mostly have bell shapes, while a multiband compressor has filters with a slope at both sides. This almost always leads to areas with different shapes. You know what I mean?
The compressor bands look more like a square with soft corners.

    Why not ?
You can use a Dynamic Eq to control a specific frequency with a resonance problem very transparently and after use a multiband compressor to control your bass and high frequencies.

    i never use dynamic eq
for example i usually send my kick and base to a buss drop an instance of fabfilter mb on it and 9 of the 10 times it works
it sound like it glue's the kick and bass togheter

I saw a video with a producer of Psychadelic Trance using this method, kick and bass processed together.
I prefer to separate these 2 elements for better control.
Maybe I should give it a try to see what happens in this case?

This is a good read from izotope. If you want to know more about differences between dynamic eq and mutliband compressors.

Edit oh @shankar posted this link already.
    never mind.

I almost always use a dynamic EQ.

That's not at all what I've ever used a dynamic EQ for and therefore it's not interchangeable.

Typically when I make a new kick, I'll run a 909 through a few dynamic Eq's and distros - - First Eq normally kicks out the bass and foucses on the punch and highs of the kick. Distort that and apply another Eq that tweaks it for when I start Eqing the bass back in.

On principle to tame temporary spikes.
Mostly boomy low freqs of the bass and when instruments/vocals add up some freqs, temporarily.

Technically both can be used to almost replace the other. In practice depends of what you want and can do.
