wdym save, you save in a code editor the json that you edit and then open FL through flskinner or the shortcut with a launch argument.

 

Ok, so basically I can't open it directly through FL? Previous skins I've had I could save as templates and just open them from startup

 

That's the thing with flskinner
It doesn't actually change anything permanently, meaning that it has to be part of the launching process. It does have an option to create an autolaunch shortcut which just creates a shortcut for flskinner but with a launch argument which disables any gui of the tool, so you just launch FL from there and dont even notice there being any change other than the skin. So for your question, No, you can not open skinned FL straight from the FL64.exe file, but you can open skinned FL from a shortcut that injects the skin into FL.

hey man, i remember you posting this back a while ago and was wondering the same thing, i came across this skin on DevianArt that was free and found you have to open the .dll file for the fl engine and change it in some coding program to make this work. i'll try to find out if i can do it myself, i learned a little bit of coding with the fl skinner program on changing colors, but i don't know if it's that easy with FL 11.

Fucking sick! The customization looks to be really deep, too. Not only can mostly everything be colored, but all of the controls can apparently be swapped out with others! According to Scott: "one of the nice things about our vectorial interface and Control Creator, all controls are up for customization." Well, that will end the usefulness of FLSkinner, this is most likely why development of it has stopped too around the same time frame. It was a good run, but I'm all down for this official support. Also: "Every window and window element can be separately themed. If its a knob or slider it will likely be replaceable. This is not being done in half measures." So glad they have decided to listen to the community. This will put FL's customization lightyears ahead of Ableton.
