If (!) there will be more tracks than what fits on an album, we can still think about how to decide which ones too choose.

But what is an "album" in the "online-age" anyways...

 

meh, doesn't matter. If we have too many tracks we'll just split it up into two or three volumes. But the deadline will be intelligently arranged as to not have an overwhelming amount of tracks while also putting slight pressure on the artists for the benefit of effort and hardwork. That's where the challenge and competition will come in, whether we can actually get a solid track going on in time

 

i'd like to be apart of this! i mainly deal in hip-hop music, if that matters, but NOT the crap you hear on the radio nowadays. way more substance & variety. plz keep me posted.

I will drop some replies and ideas on the fly (I´m working now):

- I like 'Audio Sexed'. I want mushrooms.

- Frito should be rich and generous and make a pool party in his mansion (mushrooms for everybody included).

- I´m not shure about including all submitted tracks or voting... a 700 tracks submission is really a lot of material and data to handle well, I don´t know what to expect.

- Catalyst said in other topic that the new forum will include genre categories/own sections. Maybe we could consider something like this to make the selection if we have tons of tracks.
I mean, open and post the tracks in dedicated topics by genre and with the help of the Mentors announce (at AudioZ header) and set a "Genre Listening and Voting Day" for everyone interested.
In my opinion, it would be nice if the compilation ends with a rap song next to a EDM or metal song, it´s more representative for the community I think. I like variety.
And with the commitment of everyone of being part of this, maybe it´s nice if artists take a moment to listen and comment songs from other genres (that´s why I suggest setting a 'Genre Listening Day').
If all this results in tons of submissions, maybe we could choose 5 tracks per genre, voting with the 'Thanks' button. In that way you can listen and comment all the songs posted in the topic and 'vote' the one you like the most saying thanks.
Also, it avoids cheaters, you can say thanks just once time per song.

- I like HKPotential's idea about tracks review and improvements. We can help others to polish and release songs.

- Album art/wallpaper or whatever we´ll include should be decided by general vote, this is really subjetive and matter of taste, and there´re lots of great visual/graphic artists here.

- I know what Andrew says about not competition in music. Maybe we could decide regarding how much submitted tracks we get.

- Olson h. I think just one track per artist is nice and less chaotic for reviewing and improvements. I´m thinking more as a listener here, and nobody is going to listen hundreds and hundreds of submitted tracks, it would be an endlessly process.


Thanks for all the comments. I´m not precisely an organization skilled person and every line helps to make this happen. As I said, it was just and idea and a 'excuse' to show our music. There´re tons of talented but shy/hidden artists here.

Well, I'm pretty organized these days, so if you want any help organizing I could pitch in with that.
It seems to me the first thing you need here is to make a decision about who's gonna decide the basic stuff.
I mean, you have a bunch of good ideas and suggestions in this thread, but to get the ball rolling somebody must decide all the guidelines and boundaries for the project.

Ok the basic stuff should be:

- Everybody who want's to submit a track for the album must do it by a set deadline.

- We should all submit our tracks to the our music thread for review and improvements. Then once it is ready, we store it in one place, A soundcloud page linked in another thread.

- You can produce anything you wan't. This should be a community album, not an artist album. But first you should post it in our music for review

- All tracks should be in 24bit .wav for the benefit of quality and consistent file format...

- We should have one person that compiles the album together. I would love to help with that if you wan't...

- We should have graphic designers submit album designs in another thread and we can vote which one is the best once the album is done.

-The album is done when the deadline ends. We need to decide this...

- There is no limit to how many tracks go on. But each artists should submit one track only as to allow a chance for others. Trust me we won't have an extreme amount if we have a deadline and a review system.

- If we do happen to have many tracks we will split them up into parts... but I doubt we will have too many...

hmmm... I think it should be December 25th. Partly due to the fact that we all have work as well and it will take time, and also due to the reviewing that were going to do, it will make people improve there tracks and make changes.

We could release it beginning of January 2014...

 

I think it sounds pretty good. I would focus first only on the music tracks (format, deadlines, etc) to get the thing going, and get into the other stuff later.
Maybe you could be the project leader for this, and set the first guidelines after some talk with Carl?
If nobody has any serious objections I think that would be good.

 

Once you guys have finalized everything it would be good to make an official announcement in the form of another post.
