Yeah, these days this thing is a must. After having used it for months (or years?) it's painful to go back to standard YT.

So yea, give it a go, highly recommended.

 

YouTube Vanced is awesome! If you can somehow disable the official YouTube app, it's even better.

 

Just uninstall it. If you don't have the option to you might have to unlock the bootloader and root the device (not recommended because otherwise over the air updates of android no longer work).

Mine came as a pre-installed system app, so yes, I'd have to root it first.

Depends on the manufacturer really. Xiaomi for example doesn't seem to mind the device having an unlocked bootloader and rooted, and all the official updates are received without any issues.
