do you mean the PT-Colors.txt? it should be in the same folder as dark theme, although I dont know if it will work for 12.5, im not sure. But yes maybe font colors for the classic skin may be a resource hacker thing, might have to test when I get home or it might be imbedded in the idb file (or its possibly another file I am missing).

Also you could use this script on pretty much anything else to grab UI resources and the method to replace remains affectively the same. I tried this on amplitube and cubase and you can reskin pretty much anything. You just change the extension file name in the script to whatever the resource is.

Will write a script/program in the future to make it easier when I have time, unless Avid creates one first (which i doubt)

Thanks Anon, the PT Colors text file is in the dark theme folder, but it don't seem to affect the text in 12.5, there's a couple of other elements the IDB files didn't change, but they're no big deal, I would almost say it's an XML file that controls the text color, if you figure it out before I do, please drop us a line

Joe Crisp, would you mind sharing and explaining how to use?

 

First off, you will need to download the 2020.11 installer from Avid's website, you will have to create an account if you don't have one

 

I'm not particularly impressed with the dark theme, not sure What Avid was going for with that one, seems like they got kind of lazy on it, there's no 3d aspect to it at all, just flat and blocky, it's alright, but the original looks more professional

 

@Joe Crisp i would like to have the files too, can you zip them and made a little tutorial on how to apply them? i would love to have the ability!

 

for those using the Audioutopia 12.5, who want the dark theme, I downloaded the 2020.11 installer, if you have the "show hidden folders and files" option checked in folder options in control panel, you will see the pro tools program folder when you extract the installer, I went in and found the dark theme folder and copied all the IDB and PTColors files and overwrote the ones in my system PT folder, and.....now I have the dark theme in 12.5, so far no issues to speak of

 

can you upload those files from the 2020 installer and upload them, so you can spare us the hassle please?

 

Yeah man, i was thinking it would look a little more vibrant. It's not bad, but it could have been better.

 

It's like Avid just said "screw it,have the intern throw something together" and went with it, so everyone would stop bitching about how outdated Pro Tools still looks compared to other DAW's

 

Here are the files for the Dark theme.
Before you copy them over, first, make a backup of your original files just in case you want to switch back.
Honestly the dark theme is kind of blah but whatever.

Replace the idb files.
Location should be c:\program files\Avid\Pro tools.

wait about a dll?? (windows) i make a try replacing the version from the 2020 installer onto the audioutopia's 12.5 and at least the starting window did change
