    Hello,

I did a search on "REX" and "REX Audio Files " and "Rex files" in titles only and the search results are all over the place (search terms are not in the title of search results, which seem random).

Anyway, I know that REX files for those who do not have Reason can still be used in Spectrasonics Stylus and I also know that SliceX imports REX files nicely, though I have read comments that it doesn't always work well when you start extending the files.

So my question is: are there other ways to get the benefits of REX files in FL Studio, whether using native features or VSTs aprt from SliceX ans Stylus (which I don't own)?

Thank you for your suggestions and comments.

Note: I am using FL Studio 20 on PC.

FL Directwave should have .rex support but I just use Kontakt! My old method for chopping wavs was to create .rex files using Propellerhead Recycle, and open them in Kontakt & play them with my midi keyboard.

You can import REX files into the playlist and use "Slice map" stretching method without introducing artifacts.
Other than that SliceX and Newtone can do to any sample what Recycle does and more.
You can learn more about SliceX here

I recommend getting the free sample browser from loopmasters called loopcloud. (http://loopcloud.net/) You can browse and audition your rex files (and other audio filetypes) in key and in time with your project. Then you can drag the transposed or time altered file into fl studio, your desktop, any other location, or daw on your computer. It's super fast. and free

The regular Fruity Slicer can load rex too, no need to buy Slicex

Why didn't I think of that? Don't answer this rhetorical question.

Thanks a lot for the tip. I am going to give this a try.

Thanks a lot. I did not know that either and I must admit I did not think to try.

Thanks a lot. I saw Newtone as a pitch shifter/cheep Melodyne and did not think to try with a REX file. You guys are putting me to shame (in a nice way) Thanks a also for the link.

Very cool tip. I tried Loopcloud a long time ago and I had forgotten its features. Thanks a lot.

Just drag them straight into the playlist arrangement window and they are automatically synced to the tempo of your song. Good for drum loops, bongos etc. If a pack contains wav and rex loops I just keep the rex. Wav you have to fit to tempo. Rex just drag and good to go.

Without having to time stretch or re-pitch? That's fantastic! Thanks a lot for another great tip.
