    Well that's certainly an improvement.

I bought a bunch of these plugs at the $30 - $40 price tag (happy to support a new dev with a new approach), and at that price I was willing to live with them not yet being completely the finished product. But there's no way I can bring myself to drop $100 - $150 on them. Oh well.

Rather than create a new Analog Obsession thread, I thought I'd ask what the consensus is on this range of plugins. I think there's a lot of overlap between them and I wish there was less emphasis on modeling old gear and just focusing on a few gems and really polishing them, but I guess the Patreon subscription business model is smart and is a GAS valve. It's fun to check out new plugins, but I'm still waiting to find one of these that replace it's equivalent in my go-to categories. It's great that he's releasing all the major platforms and formats.

AO is great but nothing destroys the Slate...

I really like the vocal bus sweetener, drum bus sweetener, and of course the SSQ is a fav.

These guys were so obsessed with the analog thing they forgot to make top quality plugins and now they give them away. Karma's a bitch :rofl:

But I'm not saying they're a so bad, as free plugins they should be some of the best (with that patreon stuff approach).

Because it is easier to write off any glitches as "mojo"?

Just to not seem like a dick or something, I appreciate there is mojo in them there plugins...

I am just not sharp enough to know what they are doing, and whether it really sounds good or bad.
I am still working on the basics of mixing and so I feel i should know what is happening.
Sure, sometimes letting a plugin do its magic sounds good, and cool, but i am learning as a hobby. :disco:

He doesn't emulate anything he just learns the character of something then makes his rendition of it. Buster(Se) sounds nothing like an SSL. I've never used the real thing but based on all the other emulations it's some other thing. Which is another tool yes but SSL no. It will compress and dig in but somehow fail to bring the material forward like a screen like the SSL emulations.

It remembers me, long time ago, another dev providing "emulated" plugins.
It was juts a "flavor" : you like it or not. But NOTHING close to the real thing anyway.

It takes months to years to provide good plugins.
See the amazing Variety Of Sound legacy.

What a lovely thread, discussing botch job anal obsession plugins that every other developer does better.

And its even got a vapid teenage kill-youself-before-you-breed-please clickbait title "This guy is saving 500 on his electirc bill every month! find out more buy clicking here you gullible little monkeys!"

Dont take my work for it tho, AO is my secret weapon! (please believe this so that you dont get anywhere)

I'm starting to get the impression that every developer loved and praised on Gearslutz is hated here.

Can't know it for sure, but I think there's less hate here. Unless you talk about Slate. Or Billie Eilish...
