Maybe a bit too many style changes
A bit of Mixing on the Drums would be good (clashes need a bit of EQing they are a bit harsh )

You need a good Vocalist for this and it could be really TOP 40

don't be scared to push top-end on the snare further, something like between 6-10dB boost around 6-10kHz would make wonders,
also you can cleanup the guitars using multiband compression of just the lower frequency spectrum of the guitars (which will not make them as hollow as if they were EQ'ed in that area)

This could be mutually exclusive. :winker:

    Is that a threat? [IMG]

Too many styles, the soli are a bit too low and the drums sound like a preset (of EZ Drummer?).

But very creative and musically. :like:

And OP, I for one do not think there are "too many styles" in this at all. If there were vocals over this, I'm not sure this would have been said, because we would be more focusing on the vox.
But then I listen to some pretty out there stuff.
Weather Report, Zappa, Jazz Fusion, unreleased instrumental Prince recordings.

Hey man! thanks for feedback! I'll be looking into the drum mix, the thing is i'm using Ableton Live Lite, so it only allows 8 channels so it's impossible to split the drums for a better EQ. About the vocalist, i was planning singing, I'm not the best but i can try hahah.

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into that as soon as I get the standard or suite version of Live, the channel limit is very frustraiting. For the guitars y use a multiband compressor around 120-200Hz, maybe the threshold is too low.

Thanks mate! I've been trying to do my best since audio ain't my area, but with all the info that internet provides I've been able to manage my way out of this. About the styles you comment after, I agree on that, my main influences comes from progressive music so the variation ain't something new for me. Thanks again!

Thanks man! nice to see you commenting on my post again! Is an absolute threat, but a good one I hope hahah. The drums I'm using are from the GGD's libraries, maybe thats why it's sounds like a preset, didn't touch them too much at EQ. The solo ain't loud because I was scared of putting too much on it hahah. Thanks again dude.

Hey man, thanks for your comments. About the limiter, what do you mean? I'm such a noob when it comes to audio so thanks for bringing that up

According to the waveform it's not overly limited.

Soundcloud's wave form is not really an indicator, that being said, i can hear the limiter reacts very aggressively to the drums, especially the kick, give it a listen at lower volume and you will hear the "pumping" caused by the limiter, focus on the guitars when you do...

The solution to this is simple to but complicated to explain, if you use busses, when you need to do is insert a buss compressor in this order:

    - First on the drums buss, add a compressor (i suggest VBC grey from Slate) and dial in a very fast attack release and a high ratio (try 8) then gently lower the threshold until you can see the compressor work, the idea behind this, is to catch those transient, and lower until you feel the drums balanced and a bit undercontrol (no crazy punchs if that makes sense) , i usually lower until i see the compressor react to both the kick and a little bit to the snare, now to fine tune, you have the high pass filter and mix level (not obligatory), try to get a fairly transparent compression, but somehow controlled, if you can't achieve a good results you probably have a problem with your mix or at least with your drums in this case.

    - Second (still on the drums buss) add another compressor ( i suggest townhouse buss compressor from plugin alliance) now try attack at 1 and 3 ms (ratio @4), depends what you're after and what works, and keep the release at auto, lower the threshold until drums sounds compressed but not over compressed and most importantly controlled and BALANCED.

    - Three, what you wanna do now is add VBC grey on your guitars, with the filter all the way up or at least depends on the tuning (experiment what works) again attack at 1ms and release at auto, and you have a healthy 3dB of reduction...

    - Finally add a townhouse buss compressor on your master before the limiter of course, solo the drum buss, and then start bringing in buss's faders (bass and guitars) until you feel you have a balanced mix work with the drum bass guitar busses while looking at your compressor, don't over do it, try to achieve from -3 to -5dB as a maximum gain reduction very important for in your face results, then add in your limiter, and please no -9dB of reduction or more on your limiter :bleh: a gentle -3 is already enough, try pushing for more if you feel that your mix is balanced otherwise don't :winker:
