Yes this is interesting, and some classical music too.

I am looking at it to study better the strings and brass winds arrangements.

I like to compose video game music. It's my favorite type of music to listen to, as well. I've got a few things lying around but they need to polished up a bit and then recorded. I'll post some stuff here when that gets done. I agree with Robbie on that we could use a Game And Film Sub Category :D

Some other trick I use, to get out of stucked, is to forget the computer, go out of the room and sing the piece in my head, this frees you out of any technical contingency and help to have fresh, idealistic ideas.

Hey guys, interesting topic. I used to compose for TV shows and ads some years ago, but then I moved into other areas so now I mainly make music for fun (though I still get a check now and then when some channel is nice/lazy enough to rerun some of that old junk).

About getting stuck, I used to try some different things.
1 - Listen to work by other composers in a similar genre and style and take inspiration - steal :grooves: - from them.
2 - Play around with sounds and instruments that I normally wouldn't use. This was probably most useful for me since it would often send me in completely new directions and give me fresh ideas.
3 - Play the demo to some guys that I knew and trusted and get their input, sometimes ask other musicians to add their personal touch.

Good luck with your work everybody.

No it's not my music. It's from a series of threads I started here which are listening booths where you can check out cool new music you haven't heard before. It's a good place to expand your horizons or maybe draw some inspiration. However my genre of choice is Industrial just like Front Line Assembly but I also like pretty much all other genres.

Also that tip you gave about leaving the computer and singing the piece in your head is one I use myself. I also find it very helpful to play what you have so far and listen from the next room. Sometimes this way I can figure things out a lot faster and sometimes come up with new ideas I might never have thought of.

Yeah I guess I'm slowly being sucked back into the world of music. There's not much that can compete with it.
Like old man Nietzsche said: Without music, life would be a mistake.

Glad to hear it, we'd love to have you as a part of the family. Great Nietzsche quote, one of my favorites. And what a coincidence I'm actually rereading Beyond Good And Evil at the moment. "Supposing that truth is a woman...what then?" Now that's how you start a book.

its not ment to be disrespectful. it represent the nation in distress. which the USA is very much under, our economy is about to collapse,we are waging war after illegal war, our govt does what it wants and the people have no say. i am part of the 3% that when the time comes and the time is right will take back our govt either peacefully or guns ablazing. the only part of America that is truly left is just the ground we walk on everything about her spirit and pride is either dead or has been fabricated into something else.

That was beautiful man. I was going to post this but haven't had a chance, it's a few months old though: Poll: 29% of Registered Voters Believe Armed Revolution Might Be Necessary in Next Few Years And those were of the people that vote that were willing to admit it, forget about those that don't vote. All I'm going to say is you will LOVE my Transmissions III - Industrial: Soundtrack For A Revolution thread. *yes*

Absolutely, glad to see some haven't forgotten that. By the way I'm referring to a thread not a track: Transmissions In there you will find three threads and one of them is Industrial. There are lots of goodies that are very different one track or artist to the other so something you will like and I put a lot of time into it so it looks nice. It takes a few seconds to load though because there are a lot of videos.
