You don't have to install 5.6.0, you must install one of the latest versions of Kontakt 6, which comes with a 5.6.0 standalone app that you can run without installing it.

I didn't install it. I only use the Kontakt 5 App for adding libraries. Don't need to use the VST or Components from 5.6 because I use Kontakt 6 for samples. Just copy it to app folder and take care to rename it if necessary so you don't overwrite Kontakt 6. Don't forget to code sign it after you copy it. It goes into the /Applications/Native Instruments/Kontakt folder.

what you said really doesn't make sense because Where and how would I get an installer for it, because it always says Kontakt 5 is unable to be installed you meant by native instruments website and download it from them? As a player will it be able to add correctly for kd versions of 6+ is there anyone willing to help me walk through this for a small donation? I am so frustrated trying to figure this out for weeks

    *edit*
Seems downloading legit NI access center and direct download of Kontakt from THIER website, is still giving me the error to "contact the manufacturer" unless I get 6.4.2 then it should download

You're reaaaaaaaaaaaally over-complicating this. Pay close attention:

    1) Go to sister site. No, I will not tell you where the sister site is in a private message. Figure out where the sister site is. Then, go to it.

    2) Once there, do a quick search for "Kontakt 6.4.0 Mac".

    3) Chances are about 95 percent that the top-most match from this search will be the right one: "Kontakt 6.4.0 macOS" or whatever. Click on that link.

    4) Now, you should be on a page that allows you to download the Kontakt v6.4.0 Mac installer. Click on the appropriate links. Download the file.

    5) You will discover that you have downloaded a disk image. Click it to open.

    6) Yes, that package-looking thing you see is the installer. Click to open.

    7) Follow the instructions. Install your software.

    8) If you followed steps 1-7 correctly, you now have a fully-k'd Kontakt v6.4.0 installed on your machine. You also now have a fully-k'd standalone Kontakt v5.6.0 app installed (it was installed automatically along with v6.4.0). Check the Native Instruments folder in your Applications. In that folder is a subfolder called "Kontakt". Both standalone apps will be there ("Kontakt" and "Kontakt 5.6.0"). Cooooool!

    9) If, for some crazy reason, you clicked on either "Kontakt" or "Kontakt 5.6.0" and it either refuses to open or is just bouncing in the Dock, mocking you for owning an expensive computer that you know absolutely nothing about, Force Quit that Kontakt.

    10) Now, you'll want to brace yourself, because this could be terrifying. Go into your Utilities and open Terminal. Just copy this code:

... and paste it into the Terminal window (make sure that there's a space at the end!). Next, click on the version of Kontakt that was giving you the problems and drag it into the Terminal window right after that text you just pasted. Some scary-looking techno-babble will appear (don't be scared; it's just the directory location of that app in text form). Now, hit "Return". It may ask you to provide your administrative password. Go ahead. Type it in. Hit "Return" again. Now, close out Terminal and try opening Kontakt again. You did it!

Quick question, now that I've re-read your highly confusing posts here: when you go to the sister site, arrive at the page where you can download "Kontakt v6.4.0 macOS" and click on the download link, is the link you clicked on taking you to NI's Web site? Because -- and I don't feel I should have to point this out, but here we are! -- that's the wrong link. At no point do you want to download anything from NI's Web site during this process. Now, that's one of only two reasons I can think of that you would be in demo mode.

The other one would be, you're downloading a version of this k that has you install Kontakt from a legitimate installer, then has you replace the un-k'd standalone app and plugs with k'd ones from a folder. Might that be the case? If so, you may have ran the legit installer, then forgot about the other part, where you have to replace the app and plugins.

neither... look I feel your tone is a little condescending, the issue was that I can't get Kontakt install correctly without add libraries and starting native access, or for 6.4 run at all.. Every time I go to add a Kontakt 5 library when it launches only when I install k version, and still the native access pops up and won't let me add libraries, even through sisters k (Moria)

replacing the app with 6.4 then it says the app will not be opened, even after terminal instructions.

    reinstalling now tells me;

Installation folder not found! Please install from the original installation medium first. If the product is already installed on your computer, please start the latest version of Service Center, go to the "Overview" tab, click "Show Details" for the application you want to update, and browse to the current installation folder by pressing the "Locate" button. Then run the update installer again.

Hi anyone can help me out with this? I'm currently using kontakt 6.2 and whenever I add libraries through 5.6.6, it says that "Your new library needs to be added before this instrument can be used. Please go to Kontakt's Libraries tab and press the Add Library Button". The add library button was exactly what I used to add the library in the first place. Beside the library it also has the "activate" button.

How do I get around this?

    Thanks everyone.

@Chrisp you must add new libraries by using the Kontakt 5.6.0 App (it came with Kontakt 6 K'd installation, look for it in the Apps folder on your Mac, under Native instruments-->Kontakt)

This works for me, but unfortunately not for all libraries, I still can't add some libraries, they are not showing app even when added properly.

update* I'm researched helping with the helper tool not be found error, I see what I need was to reset the code sign via "sudo xcode-select --reset" that gave me an error that showed me I have to get Xcode first. Trying that then I will redo code sign

    Hey.
The libs that aren't loading, check their .xml files in Service Centre.
They may have an SNPID # of 000. This needs to be changed to the number written in the . nicnt.
    Use TextEdit.
Obviously, any lib without a .nicnt will just open anyway via Quickload or drag n drop, but just won't show in Lib Tab.

    I hope this helps you.

@jiemayn I've never needed to codesign a Kontakt release.

Really? I'm about 70/30 on not having to codesign (meaning: "I occasionally have to do it"). For me, it seems to depend on who releases it. I don't think I had to for the last two or three releases, although the original v6.4.0 release was a shitshow for other reasons.

Interesting I've never had to do it.
But then you also remember my Elektrik/Akoustic libs never stopped working too?
I am currently working on a bootable clone of a system from 10 years ago, except it's been updated with OSs.
Which maybe is why Kontakt Memory Server still works for me too.
Yeah, I avoided 6.4.0 at first. Too critical to have a flawed Kontakt!

Has anyone successfully installed the recent VENTO release on Mac? Other libraries from that brand seem to work in 6.4.2 but not this one. When using 5.6.0 to add their libraries, none of their libraries create an .xml file, so there isn't one for VENTO to delete or edit in Service Center. I'm wondering if there's an alternate method to try. When attempting to add it again in 5.6.0 it says that it "already exists within the Kontakt Libraries tab", but it just doesn't show up in 6.4.2. Any ideas?

FIXED: see #404 (tl;dr... don't have 6.4.2 plugin and 5.6.0 standalone open at once!!)
