I have heard, that a whole lot of contributors to youtube-dl got cease and desist letters. The only reason youtube-dl is so reliable, is the fact that so many people actively contribute to it, and fix it when youtube and other sites change their code base. So going forward, there's a pretty good change it's not going to be as reliable, or fixed relatively quickly when it eventually breaks.

 

Youtube always dumbs down the quality/bitrate
Even when MKBHD uploads an 8k video he loses Gigabytes of data from the original file
For example the video takes 32 GB in 8k when he uploads it Youtube converts it down to 8-9 GB so you'll never get the "origianl quality"

 

You're right, but it's no secret there's a quality (bitrate) limit for YT videos. It's not the place to upload high quality stuff.

 

Perhaps they will create software that will take this video in the source code =)
