I lately thought about buying these headphones and I wondered if someone has experience
with them. The cost approximately 129€. Maybe you can give me some advice or know
better headphones for this price. Let me know please. I appreciate your opinion.

I have a pair as well as Fostex T40RP, AKG M70s and Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro... trust me if you can save and get the Beyerdynamic you will not be disappointed http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/DT880 or http://vintageking.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/3529/ I let my vocalists use the KNS 8400 in the booth. For monitoring and mixing and comfort... the Beyerdynamic all the way

i have the VXT8 as studio speakers, and the KNS 8400 as monitoring headphone.

definition: really good, especially in the low bass frequencies, you will hear everything clearly such as sub basses. i let the headphones play during hours at middle/high level, now it sounds like if you were in front of the monitoring speakers.

mastering: i found something by myself, but then i saw a lot of headphones have that lack around 8kHz. i mixed a snare in a song, i finished the song and then listened to it on my studio monitors. And that was clearly not what i was expecting (the snare was way to loud).

comfort: that is the big negative point on this headphones for me. i have low quality headphones that i prefer to use(when playing games or watching movies) only because it is more comfortable. the kns8400 are solids, but really tight because of a piece of steel. i use this headphones to produce when i need to hear what i do, but not for more than 1-2 hours.

i don't know if i would do again that choice, i hardly hesitate with the AKG K271 Mk2, but i would definitely go for something more comfortable, at least to compare with this headphones.

Save your money for a little while longer and INVEST in headphones twice that price. Trust me, you'll thank yourself later when you realize that you spent good money on something rock solid and worthy. Plus, it's best to get yourself pro-sumer level gear that way you don't have to upgrade so quickly in the future. Thats just my philosophy, mate :mates:

Well, for the price of Rokit 5 or 6, you can get Esi Aktiv 08 (which has 90Watts per speaker, 60lows & 30W highs) and is new and accurate models of the old Esi Near 08 Experience. I have them about a year and i can tell you they're better in accuracy than Rokit 5 or 6 and also has extended low freq. It tend to sound closer to the Yamaha HS80M(forward mids) but in a hi-fi sharpness way.

And btw, they'r German quality. If you push your pocket a little more, you can get one of the Esi Unik models 04/05 & 08 (which is the flagship series of Esi, 05 & 08 models having ribbon tweeter instead of dome 1" on the Aktiv Series. But if you wanna get something around the money of Rokit 06, you can look for Esi Aktiv 08.

By the way, the Ribbon Tweeter is not the best choice! *no* And of course i tell you why! The problem is, that you notice sounds in the mix who are not really noticable on other speakers, later you'll have the problem to hear things on normal speakers, which you heard before. Adam Speakers have this problem, and ESI also. For example, you have a Mix and you add a Pad-Synth, on speakers with ribbon tweeters, you'll hear it much more earlier then on speakers with normal, softdome or beryllium tweeters. This will be a problem later, when you listen to the mix on HiFi speakers or in the car, because then, the Pad-Synth can't be heard well anymore.

I work with Focal in the nearfield, and PMC in the farfield, and this works fine. I recomend the Focal Solo 6Be or the Twin 6Be.

I have a pair of AKG K271 mkII's. I mix with them all the time, they sound great and are extremely comfortable. They also come with both coiled and uncoiled leads that have a plug on the end so you can change to which ever you find most convenient and have a cut off mechanism that only allows them to play audio whilst they are on your head. Also they are about the same price as the ones your currently using, have a look at this link.

I get what you're talking there about the ribbon tweeter, but don't explain it in a very problematic way. You're saying that a ribbon tweeter will help you hear details beyond a dome tweeter will be able to reproduce, but this is not a problem, it's actually an advantage, because you can fix problematic details in your mixes that you wouldn't hear them on other monitors/ normal regualar speakers, but you still can hear them on hi-fi expensive speakers and headphones :). I know dome tweeters tend to mask surgical bad details from your mix and so the regular hyped-response speakers, but the ribbon tweeters tend to reveal more sonical details, for some are pleasant, but for others are anoying. Is about taste, it wont ruin your mixes, they will actually improve it in a surgical way, if you wanna go beyond with your work. There are so so so many artists using ribbon tweeters, even Redone, and he made hits for Gaga without complaining of his speakers ribbon tweeters, hehehe. Cheers!
