    Hello,

I hope some could help me out in if i should jump on Acustica Audios Offer on N4 that they currently offer. I got some of their other plugins and yes, they are somewhat cpu hogs but sound really nice.

How is it with N4? Is it just as heavy on CPU, if so what other plugins can you compare it to when it comes to resources (Diva all loaded)? Does it still take full resources if its frozen?

If you use please leave your input, Fanboy or hater doesnt matter i just wanna hear honest opinions on it cause ive been close many times to jump on it but never did.. Maybe this time.. And please keep it in line, if you wanna throw crap on someone cause of their opinion do it some place else please..

    Stay safe all..
    Vaijj

I use N4 quite a lot, but the learning curve is steep in my opinion, because there are so so so many librairies available, it can be very cumbersome. The sound is awesome though. CPU wise I find it totally depending on the library itself, It's a bit harder to use a reverb like Analog in the box "Rooms" then a comp or pre from TimP or with the tons of library that come with. Honestly there is so much to cover, and there are great skins being created right now by Max that is making our N4 lives easier with the switching of "presets" right inside N4. You have to know that a normal N4 will load 1 band eq or 1 specific program at a time...
I use a ton of Acustica plugins in my projects still on a 7700 non k, I can get places, but some are a pain yes.. I'm planning on a new Ryzen 5000 CPU and learning to freeze even more and quicker if I like what I hear

all- aqua have a sound I can always perceive it. and i hate it. I used to think it was analog stuff when my ears didn't know better (last year to be honest) but's just unnecessary "haze" to me now

nebula uses less cpu than aqua, library's are cheaper, sound better. buy it. it will be one of your favourite toys

Thanks for chipping in guys.. Yeah i know pretty well how it works after studing both videos and some lame tries with the old "cracked" version. I got a pretty desent computer that should be able to handle it but yeah, after reading comments and so on im not sure. And ofc the workflow, will it work for me or not.. How much will it break the creative state i once in a while find.. many questions so thanks once again for giving your input here..

There are somethings which you need to know and learn,
A lot less cpu uses than Aqua's,
The lib's are calibrated on -18 db (Be careful, it can damage your system if you go wrong)
The workflow is a bit different, for example you need to open new N4 for each eq band (you cannot have all the band's in one n4)
The most important one is: before you buy any library always first ask me what library i need :bleh:

Well let's just say that if I had to keep only one Acustica product, it would be N4 ;) it has a powerful sound...

I like the Aqua sound, but I have had moments where this haze has plagued my tracks. First it was a sample rate question, then it was juste way to many frequencies applied over and over. Right now, I do not know if it's my deaf ears and lack of experience/wrong choices or their technology that comes with it... (I used to mix in 48khz, I had a horrible sound !! Wierd downconversion.... Will try 96khz since it's their real native resolution... when time to experiment will come)

N4 is an engine and it doesn’t have sound by it self!
It’s like I say Kontakt is amazing synth which is not!

but yeah there are really good lib’s out there:yes:

You get a 10 GB library with more than 450 different real hardware emulations from tapes, reverbs, compressors included, plus Rose (FET) and Violet (Vari-Mu) compressors.
it's a no-brainer, but you need to take some time to learn it to fully get its potential.

Nebula could be the "best ever" emulation of hardware.
But, who cares and what is the difference in ears of people who listen your music?

I have yet to hear a Nebula or Acustica compressor that sounded good. They always sound weird and bad. Jittery, chunky, full of artifacts. They screw up the attack and release. I tend to think the technology just isn't actually capable of doing a compressor properly.

It works well for clean EQs. So if you are looking for some seemingly accurate vintage EQ curves... then go for it. Otherwise I'd stay away. There are better offerings in native circuit modeling plugs.

I just compared an N4 compressor to some AA compressors. Some AAs use half of it, some twice the CPU load, so this depends solely on the library. Most AAs used less!

BTW, this N4 compressors equals ~ 5 TDR Nova bands with dynamic mode on in regards to CPU load.

For an artist this doesn't matter. What he hears is the only thing that matters.

woah woah woah, I'm just beginning some tests, but using Audiogridder on the SAME computer is actually cutting my CPU quite a bit !!!
I've just read that tip - in Italian lol - on the Acustica Facebook page, and since Audiogridder keeps popping out everywhere I figured I'd try even though I have not set up my 2nd computer... Windows based and optimized.
Just loaded up my Rooms (Analog in the box) N4 setup into it, and watched my CPU drop by half in Reaper, and in Activity Monitor the CPU is much lower than just loading up the N4... verrrry interesting.... all of this on my macbook... it's free !!!

I'm wondering the same thing. Is nebula4 worth it in 2020?
Do they sound as good as acustica audio newest plugins?

Also do you get any good processors with the default library or is it mandatory to purchase third party libraries?
