    (Mac related)

Alright, let's talk about these subjects for a moment. Maybe there's something useful in it for some! Feel free to respond or add more examples. :winker:

    Discontinued

    Cakewalk Z3ta+2
Discontinued because Cakewalk is now Cakewalk by BandLab but without their plug-ins. Which is a shame because it wasn't a bad synth. It's still compatible though, but for how long .. especially with Big Sur coming.
    https://www.synthanatomy.com/2019/04/amost-forgotten-synthesizer-plugins-z3ta2.html

    Camel Audio CamelCrusher, CamelPhat, CamelSpace.
Discontinued but given a revival by Apple in Logic with their Phat FX and Step FX stock plug-ins. The settings should be the same after transferring them but that's not completely true so be aware of that. Unfortunately, the GUI of the original plug-ins is gone in latest Logic release. You can still change the settings though by choosing View and Controls.

    Ohmforce Ohmicide
Not sure what they're up to: https://blog.ohmforce.com/2020-catalina-and-new-releases

    ReFX Vanguard
Used this one a lot in the past. Old but gold. Not a big deal though that it isn't supported anymore. Latest version was 1.8.0 if I'm correct but 32-bit obviously.

    Compatibility / (bad) support

    AIR Music Technology
I own their Creative FX Collection Plus bundle which I use(d) a lot but after a year of waiting I'm done with them. And a lot of users are, when reading the FB complaints. Not compatible with latest OS but still trying to sell it. And also not responding to mails or give updates. That's a bad strategy if you ask me. Especially for paid customers. So I already started to find proper alternatives for the modulation effects for example.

    Fakin' The Funk (bitrate checker)
Not compatible anymore with latest OS. It's a useful tool - also has an analyzer like SPEK - although not completely accurate sometimes because tracks that were bought at Beatport or clearly had no issues by ear still result in lower bitrates. I once contacted a professional artist about this subject and he couldn't understand why some of his tracks didn't pass the test while they were straight converted from WAV. Anyway, when asking the developer for an update I received the following response: "just stay on Mojave." Yeah, right haha. Wide SD True Audio Quality could be an alternative app but after using it, I'm not that convinced. It lacks a lot of detailed information compared to FTF.

    Lexicon PCM Native Reverb Bundle
Latest version seems to be 1.3.8 which is already a few years old. People paid 600 for it (!) but they're left in the dark when it comes to any support lately. Check for more info (and complaints) this interesting conversation: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/mus...icon-pcm-native-reverb-plugin-bundle-131.html

    Magix Sound Forge Pro
Not compatible with latest OS anymore and after reading a lot of complaints we can assume that they won't support it anymore. Which is bad news for people who paid 299 for it. There are a lot of other audio editors available of course but SF still has something unique to offer to my opinion (which is also discussed in another thread btw). Using a Windows laptop with latest SF could be a workaround. But still ..

    Sonivox
Not sure anymore but wasn't there a link between them and AIR with equal poor support?

    Sound Radix 32 Lives
Well, we're not living in a 32-bit world anymore so that makes sense. As far as I know they don't offer a compensation for paid customers that can't use it in latest OS. (yes I know, it's wishful thinking)

    Others

    Native Instruments Massive
Latest 'supported' version is 1.5.5 but I'm still not sure if they fixed the presets alphabetical order (APFS) issue. It seems they don't care anymore because Massive X gets now all attention. The only support section I could find is this one: https://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/changes-in-massive-1-5-5-whats-been-fixed-and-what-hasnt.333317

    Are you using a MAC?
They did the same thing with Logic and discontinued it and support on the PC some time ago. Sound Forge Pro works great on Win 10. It was after all, designed and released on PC WELL before MAC just as Logic was on MAC (and the old ATARI transitioning from Notator to Logic to Logic Audio). It happens unfortunately.

Yes. And I have to agree, the win version - which I used before, the Sony one that is - was always superior to the mac one in terms of workflow, so adding a win laptop could be an option. If more tools benefit from win vs mac of course, like Fakin' The Funk for example, which is originally a win version (the mac version uses a Wine wrapper). Anyway, I still think that a lot of mac users would pay a small upgrade amount to keep working with it. So it's strange that Magix won't take this opportunity.

Used also Emagic Logic Platinum 5 in the past. Brings back memories!

I agree. I also thought it was strange Apple discontinued Logic and cut out half of the market too which is pretty much what Magix is doing too. Strange.

Unbelievable, I finally made the switch today from Mojave to Catalina (just before Big Sur will be released) .. turns out that AIR Creative FX Collection Plus and Magix Sound Forge Pro still work!

    DiscoDSP (Very Lame Developer)

I detect big issue with Arp in Corona from DiscoDSP.
This issue was preventing me from using VST correctly. Until it was fixed I could throw this plug out of the window so problem was serious.
I reported about it in April. I've got a reply that it will be written to the bug fixes list. It's October half a year has passed and they do nothing with it.

I am not a mac user and never will be one, how many times all I read on blogs and sites about macs is not compatible with this update of mac OS or discontinued due to mac OS changes, no longer supported by mac ???., mac doesnt give a flying F**K about you all they want is your money, how do you like being used as a suckers by Apple, If every mac user contacted apple and stated they will absolutely never buy any of their crap products anymore maybe you would see a quick change, but unfortunately no-one even thinks of this or takes the time to complain and continue pumping their hard earned money into billionaire's pockets like sheep. I still use Windows 7 Ultimate x64, never an issue with any software I use even if it's stated it is for Windows 10 only I haven't had an issue so far, I even still use some of my favorite software from windows XP, again no issues at all whatsoever. Now tell me who is getting the best out of their software and who is being suckered by Apple or is this a B.S. status symbol issue. I want longevity from all the software I use, no reasons to update every program just because of a newer version is available, if mine does everything I need it to do, then I am content and the real winner. I do have another older PC with Windows 10 on it just for net use.

    Logic = Mac
Do you have a link perhaps? Google gives no search results about this interesting news!

Yes, it happened to me to get trapped with legit products then discontinued: I felt cheated and I don't want to fall into it anymore. The software is not only valuable for its performance but also in all those after-sales services: when I buy a product I want to consider it working from there to eternity, not until the next OS update.
There are solid developers who closely follow their customers and are always attentive to any inconsistencies that their products may have and they have earned my trust over the years. Now I only buy this type of products: it is a way to thank those who worked hard for me.
When a product is discontinued it means that something in their strategy of production/sales/customer support didn't work and therefore they deserve to fail: this is how capitalism works.
