Now that prices for the B550 mobos have normalized since the initial overpriced launch, the MSI B550 Tomahawk represents probably the best choice, even rivaling more expensive choices. It has one of the best VRM and cooling in the B550 entire series with 60A phases, the usual bare necessities like 6 SATA, 2 x m.2 slots and it adds 2.5gbps lan along with the usual 1gbps and a front USB-C header. At around 160-170 euros it can't be beaten by any other mobo atm in performance vs price.
The second interesting mobo is the Asus -F mobo, not the mentioned earlier -E. Why? The -E is a very good mobo, but priced in X570 territory at around 240 euros, it falls short in comparison, whereas the -F at around 185-190 euros is still under the "psychological" 200 euros threshold and with very good feats and solid VRM.
Still, i find that the ASRock B550 Steel Legend at about 175-180 euros, steals the "show" from the Asus mobos. It has a great VRM, an equal feature set and a richer backplate. I just made a build with this mobo and i was able to push my client's 3700X to a stable all core 4.05 ghz with no fuss or extra noise. I had it up and running for 3 days and it never crashed on me, not even under full load stress. The cpu cooler was Dark Rock Pro 4 though, one of the more expensive air coolers, but if anyone wants to OC such a cpu, they need a decent cooler anyway.
    Lemme know whacha think :)
    Cheers

If you are planning to build a music production pc I would at least wait three months after the release before using the 5000 series. I prefer at least three updates of the bios before building a new system (also multiple updates of the chipset are important). Hope they fix the thunderbolt instability issues and memory issues. I will stay on Intel many years to come. Look at my signature

If you don't need drive mounts & drive bays this case will do.

For over-clocking, the STRIX board would be a better choice.

A decent board for stock operation (no over-clock).

For over-clocking you should be looking at the higher end boards (180 to 250 price point). Also watch for front panel USB 3 if you require that.

Seems that 5000 series with Zen3/7nm+ technology squeezes out the clock speed and one-core performance (and power consumption) of the current 3000/Zen2/7nm without changing cores.

It makes sense as long they work fine, which is why this topic is on fire (no pun intended AMD temps lol) on many places. Because it's really important nowadays.

Not to talk about high-end GPUs. Man, what a year in desktop CPUs/GPUs
BTW, nVidia "just" bought ARM... Apple must be so happy...

An offered has been tendered & accepted. Still has to pass regulatory hurdles of U.S., U.K.,EU and China to start.

Then there is Apple & Tim Cook. What will Apple do, if anything, that would negate NVidia purchasing ARM or, make the deal fall apart?

The future is bright, better wear shades....

I think it'll pass, especially since China is not directly harmed in the deal. I mean it's ARM, not TSMC.
And since TSMC supplies to pretty much every (desktop) CPU/GPU tech giant but Intel and Samsung...
Anyways, I guess for Apple was not such a big surprise.

Man, your whole quote is so generic that i was tempted not to answer. Like saying the best car is Audi lol.
Oh and the other one about gpus. Proper gpus have semi-passive fans nowadays. If you don't run games or gpu render etc. they don't spin, get it ? Here's a list from sometime ago for you:

From what I understand, China does have input on this acquisition. Global politics in play I guess. Of course, only time will tell...

My thoughts exactly. That's why I phrased it as "not directly harmed".

You all still remember the article reporting about Intel and AMD R&D teams are working in the same building? So this is just fooling you all. Manipulation of the masses with the latest junk CPU.
Everyone runs Defender, AntiSpyware, Antivirus all these eat resources, so you need a faster computer just to tackle the overhead created by Defender, AntiSpyware, Antivirus.
Then useless bigger monitors are manufactured for WhyNot? 4K 8K displays. Those require even more processing power at hi-res. :D
    Idiocracy.

Is this a production or general use PC?

For the SSD take a look at this. $100 less & better performance. I have the 1TB version on a PCIe AIC that is stable, cool & fast.
ADATA XPG GAMMIX S11 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive

Power supply is ok but, using the savings from the SSD I would go with this for better efficiency, power delivery & warranty.
Seasonic PRIME Ultra Platinum 750 W 80+ Platinum

Also, if this is primarily a production system, you can get away with a 2GB or 4GB workstation graphics card. Radeon Pro W or Quadro.

Cool, yeah, I was most unsure in the PSU area. This one looks great! SSD too.

It is primarily a production PC but I do intend on playing some games on it as well.

    Thanks for your input!
