    Hey guys,
I am kinda confused or my ears are playing tricks on me but when I mix and slightly master my tracks and upload them to beatstars im not getting the level of volume I want. It sounds good in fl studio but when I upload it to beatstars it sounds like 3-5 db lower in volume and its not consistent on every track. If i could get a mixing and mastering veteran to take a listen and i can send maybe send you a track or 2 so you can throw it in your DAW and see what it is doing i would be really greatful here is my beatstars page

I don't need it to be perfect but I just wanna be able to compete with the rest of the platform. If it takes me a minute to get back to you dont worry I just had a baby and I work the graveyard shift. Thanks again

One issue could be that 45 On My Side is transmitted with ~-3,9dB peak, Still Kill at ~-3,1.

EDIT: All I checked have either -3 or -4dB peak.

Sometimes when you reached and passed the target LUFS audio players bring down the overall volume down so your peaks goes down aswell. Competitive loudness is all about mastering stage. And mastering is whole another universe that anyone should begin the learn from starting point.

I can suggest you to do like that: While creating something always consider and make the slightly mixing moves such as panning and basic eq things. Take a break. Move on to mixing stage add some depth overall compression things for glueing together (just typical mixing moves, you know?). When you finished with mixing: Bounce the file, listen over and over again. Be sure there is no more things to do and it is ready for commercial mastering stage (or whatever). Shut down your daw, bury the hatchet, go watch some tv, enjoy with your family or smack some tomb raiders if you are at work. Forget your content for a while. Then back to the daw and be ready for mastering stage. First of all clean all unwanted low freq range (like 20hz and below) with linear eq. If it's good keep it. If it's not remove it. Put some pultec style eq. (passive eq's really good at mastering stage.) Do not over eq on mastering stage. If you really think you are need some radical eq go back to mixing step and fix it. Use compressor if you need it but not a normal compressor, bus compressors. Use saturation for improve loudness, or glueing effect. It is good trust me. Check out oxford's inflator or something like that. My main goal is create a good mono compatible mix. Because good mono and stereo sounding mix will be wide and fantastic after using good imager like ozone's. Do not worry about phase so much cause when you collapse it mono, it will be still good on stereo (try to find sweet spot between +1 and 0 anyway. Split into bands and let the low frequencies still mono). Trust me, but still check it in mono 'cause maybe i am selling my beats in same platform too and just want to eliminate one more competitor. And last step holy limiter. Avoid sausage waveform with over limiting, i hate that. Find the right attack and release settings if you use limiters like L-2 (fabfilter). Check your LUFS for targetting loudness and keep true peak at -1db if you go more than target loudness.

Congratulations! You are ready to upload. Sorry for flood.

Just because im asking for help doesn't mean I suck at making beats.. people buy my stuff for the most part I average about 2 sales a week which isnt alot alot but I am about mid priced .. some guys charge $50 for bottom tier licenses. Im not a beginner and im not a pro.. and i run a buy 1 get 3 free so you do the math

Yeah i was thinking that too.. maybe my export settings aren't right.. i know I have dither selected in the export settings.. and a few other things.. i thought if it was below -1 db that they bring the signal up.. but i must be wrong about that.. either way I need to do better and learn why this is happening im gonna create something tomorrow and upload it maybe you guys can check it.. some of those tracks are a year old and you can tell because the mixing is horrible on some of them so much so I thought about taking down a few of them

I am getting different peaks than you,

I wouldn't put much stock in the loudness measurement because I only took about 20seconds of the recording on loopback, even then I had peaks at -.75 dBfs.

Could you verify that your loopback is not attenuating to be certain.

So, basically you are not selling just a song: is also the license included in that price? is that so? and how convenient to do such a thing? What happens if your song unexpectedly becomes a hit?

I mean you can look up beatstars standard license contracts .

what they write on the contract and what happens in reality is often different. I am reading various negative reviews for their service, here is one:
    https://www.insane-beatz.com/2015/1...beatstars-com-and-their-distribution-service/
The copyright for the use of online music is often quite hazy, so it is full of jackals exploiting musicians

why you have to master an instrumental when it is needed for recording and gets mixed and mastered afterwards with the vocals? i don't get it ... has this an advantage for the buyer? or am I dumb? is the master just for streaming on beatstars? and then the artists record/mix/master with the stems in the folder they bought?

you say you get some money but is beatstars good to get in touch with people? what is your experience? is this just anonymous downloads and you don't know what happens afterwards so its not really like a collaboration? like really just a finished product in the chain that you sell and that's it? (i have never sold a beat as a product although I make beats every day but i have different approach and intensions)

yo all the best for your baby and god bless your family this is so cool and makes me happy :)

Me personally I have a love hate relationship with beatstars ive been on there for 3 years now and im just now seeing sales and you gotta really invest into the platform like consistently upload beats, Run ads, blast your stuff on all social medias because if you think your just gonna show up there and start selling thats not going to happin you have some heavy hitter producers on there and they really let the top people shine there but im investing everything i have into my music my blood sweat and tears man and if you dont have that type of energy or can withstand the struggle id say dont bother. But if you can yes its worth it. Atleast to me it is

As long as they don't have a LUFS target, they do nothing to the replay.

Not necessary here, I took the values from DIGIcheck and it isn't affected by the fader positions at all.

Spectrograms show me that there are lots of mp3-compressed samples there? And dithering? If yes, what are you trying to save there?)
