Hey all. I I've been having the hardest time with this for days now.

Windows will detect my BCF2000 and even install it's generic drivers. My DAWs all see it but won't open the MIDI I/Os when connected with USB. If I use actual MIDI cables, I can get the motorized faders to control what's on the screen but they immediately return to zero.
I'm using the Mackie Control Universal mode. I have tried all the other modes as well as the standard BC mode. I have set the device ID and all other appropriate settings.I've cycled through each USB and MIDI mode in a failed attempt at trial and error.
I have restored the firmware, installed Behringer's dedicated drivers (which according to most people on Win10 who have this working, you don't need as it's plug and play). I even used BCUpdate and MIDIOX to restore the firmware, seperate timesjust to make sure. BC Manager shows everything is fine except when I use the MIDI cables but the device is not detected when connected with USB.

I'm certain there's something wrong with the Windows drivers and not the hardware becasue I can connect the BCF2000 to my MacBook Pro and use Mackie mode (and every other mode) perfectly over USB.

Do you guys have any ideas? I've contacted the manufacturer but no response yet and I'm not sure how willing they'd be to support a second hand device without any proof of purchase, even it's just to troubleshoot. Plus I'm almost certain they'll tell me it's a configuration problem on my computer's side, which I can't deny.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Windows 10 is a complete joke of an OS, I know most are being forced to move to it due to software companies not having the balls to tell Microsoft to stop turning Windows 10 into a call center scam paradise. Spending 1 hour disabling services, disabling built in spying crap, installing GPedit ( Home Version), setting up gpedit, disabling default scheduled MS Malware Executable, disabling Defender, Firewall. The Windows 10 services are a complete madness on how many services are now dependent on each other thus harder to shut down. 80% of the Windows 10 services have nothing to do with Home or Pro users, that garbage should be simply off for home usage.

    Some Info for the BCF2000

Windows XP was the last OS to still have access to the old midi ports ( emulated filter ports aka the Steinberg Midi Fiasco)

    Some info :

    o) When powering on the BCR which number (firmware version) is briefly shown on the LCD-display (latest is 1.10)?

    o) Is the BCR set up in an operating mode (U1-U4) so that the USB port is enabled?

    (1) Press EDIT + STORE button to get into global setup
    (2) Turn the first push-encoder (TYPE) in the top row to set the operating mode
    (3) Press EXIT to leave global setup
    (4) Optional: power the BCR off and on again

    o) Otherwise do you have the option to connect the BCR via MIDI cables (using operating mode S1-S4) to your computer (maybe to rule out if it might be a faulty USB-port on the BCR itself)?

I took this info down because it has relevant information critical to go over again.

What is the device name on WIndows Device Manager for the BCF2000?
Make sure it is listed in Device manager correctly

You already are half way there as you are using Midiox to test the USB incoming signal.

It's the USB port. Try every USB port, one will work. I had the same.

    Firmware is 1.10
Yes, I have tried all USB (1-4) modes.
I did use MIDI cables in all standalone modes (S1-S4) and that gives me control of the faders but they drop to zero after I let go of the fader. There's also no MIDI feedback to the faders. Before if I adjusted levels with the mouse in the GUI, the motorized faders would follow in real time.
Device Manger shows B-Control under Sound, video and game controllers.

I can connect it to my MackBook Pro over USB and it functions perfectly so I know it's not faulty hardware.
I got the BCF while I was still using macOS and have never used it on Windows

I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and I've tried both the generic Windows drivers and the BEHRINGER_MIDI_X64_1.0.10 driver on their website. The device is detected and seen by DAWs but in any of the USB modes the MIDI ports are always unavailable. In standalone, with MIDI DIN cables, the BCF's MIDI ports are seen but I get the problem I described above where the motorized faders reset to zero even though they control whats on screen.

One thing I have noticed is that, in USB modes the BCF2000 is detected as BCR2000 in Ableton. It shows as a BCF in Maschine, Reaper and Bitwig but same deal as above. I didn't download the wrong driver. Most people who have this working on Win10 say that after Vista you didn't even need the Behringer drivers and it's simply plug and play.

I literally just plugged it into the MBP and it funtions perfectly.

I've even found the KORG MIDI driver that allows you to uninstall MIDI devices and removes USB-MIDI bindings (see adrian4u's posts) and even went through fresh installs and setups using different Device IDs in the BCF2000 each time.

There has to be something with devices USB driver in Windows. I've also read that when working with USB, users see BCF2000[1] and BCF2000[2]. Depending on the USB mode, I get BCF2000 or BCF2000 port 1, BCF2000 port 2 and BCF2000 port 3.

I tried every USB port and even a powered hub. I tried different cables. I even disabled the USB Root hubs from powering off devices in the Power Management tab and tried them all again.

Wow. A lot changes in 24hrs!
So is it not something simple like installing newer C++ runtime thing that was the answer to my thread that you dipped into?

It could also be W10 USB drivers. Try updating them if they're not using MS drivers [Intel, Asus, Gigabyte?] as they can move in mysterious ways. What danfuerth said about it is so true. LTSC version seems to work best, but anyway, W10 is absolutely made for general computing, not making low latency music. Rough times for musicians, and great times on the other hand, if you're lucky. I use BCR2000 with W7 [generic driver], MIDI ports [for controlling hardware] or sometimes USB [for softsynths in Reaper], it gives me no problems.

I'm completely aware what I said is of not much help to you Pinkman, but I really hope and trust you'll be able to resolve this problem somehow. Cheers, man!

p.s. Is making a Hackintosh an option for you? Since it is obvious that W10 is the problem. Since people started coming to me with W10 installed, and I install W10 LTSC sometimes, I've seen all kinds of problems popping up, with USB often being the culprit. So many different USB ports is also to blame, I think. 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, C... now 4

You have probably tried this but uninstall the driver and restart pc. Try and plug the behringer in a dedicated usb (no hub) in motherboard without the driver installed (restart pc again). So basically see if it works without the behringer driver, and use the driver Windows 10 finds. Get more info here:

Thank you all for your suggestions.

@Smoove Grooves I wish it was something as simple as that, brother. Everything required is installed except the Windows default drivers that are supposed to work for the BCF2000.

@SineWave It took days to set up the machine how I wanted it and I was able to download all the Windows equivalents of (most of) the Mac software I had but my ISP had no data limit at the time because of Corona. Now I'd have to categorically install everything over again and I fear it would take a lot of time, plus the data cap has been put back into place by the ISP. I'm actually impressed with the performance I'm getting out of this machine and this BCF driver thing has been the only hiccup besides not being able to create adhoc networks with the new WiFi 6 Direct WiFi Virtual Adapter for the new wireless card. I may do it in the future but for right now I really just want to play, you know?

@Daskeladden I did what you said and still no luck but I did realize that the new machine has only USB3. besides the 2 USB2 ports in front. I've heard that USB3 does not play nice with the BCF so I think what I'm going to do is install the PCI USB card I had in one of my older machines and connect to that to see if it makes a difference.

    Here's hoping.

You have tried it with the USB 2.0 ports did you? I suppose so, because you said you tried changing the USB ports, too.

There's a little trick with Windows to show all the non-present devices, that helps in some cases. You may have too many of the non-present USB devices [and other devices] in the device manager... Before shelling out for the quality USB card [ASMedia maybe?], you could try this to show all the non-present devices in Device Manager, remove all the ones that aren't used, especially Behringer USB driver [remove the driver, too, when asked], restart the OS and see if it works then. You will probably be amazed at how many non-present devices is there in your Device Manager.

Good luck! Tell us how it went.

@SineWave For sure, you're a greater mind than me but I did actually do that, brother. Still no go. The KORG MIDI driver I was talking about earlier lets you uninstall and unbind MIDI devices and even after all these processes, still nothing. I was really thinking Win10 was not '"that bad" but now my eyes are opening. I have an old PC with a PCI USB card, I just have to pull it out of storage. Hopefully that card works.

@Smoove Grooves I think his eyes are beautiful.

I've only seen your post now and my first guess is that your machine simply has an incompatible USB chipset.
Using different ports won't make a difference because they're usually connected to an internal USB hub, all connected to the same USB host chip.
What hardware are you using? Laptop? Desktop?

    @fiction It's a desktop.
    AMD USB 3.10
    PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_149C&SUBSYS_148C1022&REV_00
    PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_149C&SUBSYS_148C1022
    PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_149C&CC_0C0330
    PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_149C&CC_0C03

I had a similar thought. I have a PCI USB card in an older machine that I'm trying to find. Hopefully it's compatible with that.

The X570 has issues with USB 2.0 devices. Not all of them but the BCF2000 is one. I ended up installing this:

Then I installed the BCF2000 drivers from the Behringer site and everything works.

I´m so happy that I found your post, after a week trying to make my bcr2000 work on a new laptop and three nights reading forums to find a solution, with no succes. I can easily imagine the joy you experienced after so much, endless effort, and finally make it actually work!
    But
Unfortunately for me, I don´t find any PCI(e) card slots on my Acer nitro 5 laptop to expand my USB possibilities. I only have 3 USB 3.1 ports and 1 USB type C, driven by an AMD USB 3.10 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.10 (Microsoft)
@fiction If someone has a solution for this situation I would be so thankful.

I am using BCF2000 with Windows 10. I had to buy an external USB PCIe card to make it work. So yes, it's the USB controller on the motherboard that is the problem. You can get Delock USB 3.0 PCIe card for like $20 so it's not a big issue.
