Over time I've been buying more & more of the vsts/plugins that I've been using from the past. Although I never bothered installing them and just kept using the "unlimited trial" versions. One reason is that I don't need the latest versions especially if there are no issues with the current ones that I've been using. After all, why fix it if it ain't broken. But another reason is fear that the whole uninstalling of the k'd version and installing the legit versions might cause some conflicts because some random file wasn't removed properly or whatever else. With that said, there are some synths I decided I wanted to upgrade to the newer legit version.

I'd like to hear some experiences from you guys regarding replacing your stuff with the legit versions? Is this going to be a situation of "depending on what it is"? Or do you guys keep using the k'd versions of your legits?

I do out of pure convenience. I find a majority of the time the install process is just faster than with legit software. There are some exceptions. I do like using Native Access and I love the all in one installer that Applied Acoustic Systems uses, it literally installs everything you own with one executable.

I use several cracked of which I own the license too.
I remember one was so complicated just to obtain the license after I paid... I dropped and use the cracked version.
Another one, like R2R say is lighter with their version than the legit one.

I have legit Softube and installed the cracked ones over the legit ones, because they load way faster. The ones who aren't cracked yet and I must use the legit versions, take much time to load. It is so annoying. :bash:

I have been using the non legit Louder Than Liftoff Chop Shop Eq instead of my bought version. Up to this point the updates are fairly synchronous and is easier and faster for me to deal with it.

As you can see, it really does depend on the software company behind it. :)

Some make it so hard to install their software that it's just more convenient to use a cracked version of it. Sad but true. But if you have software from u-he, Klanghelm, TAL, Toneboosters, or Voxengo [off the top of my head], it is easy to install and register them. Rarity these days...

I don‘t want to install Codemeter on my Mac, so yes I would install the cracked version of Auto-Tune 9 instead of the legit version. Besides that everything is purchased.

I do not .. but I've read something interesting recently, some developers can't keep up with the 'almost each year a new OS' Apple policy which means that their tools won't work properly anymore on the latest OS. The funny part is, older cracked versions do work
Someone familiar with this? If I'm correct, Lexicon PCM Native Reverb Bundle is one example.

Wait until ARM powered Macs

Damn, I was joking but that will actually be a low blow for Mac cr*ckers in general.

My friend once had a Roland D-50 that broke. Some chip on the motherboard. It produced some really unique sounds that I, of course, sampled before he repaired it. :P

Funny, just the question I was about to ask on this forum..

When I work in "professional" mode - that means, if the end product gets registered w/ copyright, mechanical rights companies, If I work for a client (individual or company), if my name is tied with the production that will go public, like a promo or commercial video, aso.. I am 100% legit. I have all the proof of the licenses acquired prior to the release of my "work".

For this to work, I have a separate machine (100% legit) with a DAW and all the plugins/instruments/... installed and registered with the companies. No serious work has been ever done on that comp. It just sits there and serves as a "copyright filter". Then there is my main comp with the same software, but (mostly) provided by our beloved TEAMs and other "testing" SW too ofc..;)

    So FUCKIN' SAD!! :deep_facepalm:

Paranoia? Not at all. Sometimes I have to show the "open" project and even provide proof of license ownership.. which is quite understandable if you let's say produce something that will be used with video where a single Arri camera costs 90k+ and a set of lens up to half a million...

I use some discontinued cracked plugins that I always wanted to buy but couldn't because they weren't available anymore.
Besides that I use a DAW with legit license but with all the internal plugins patched to get them working like it would be
    a higher license.
And then there are temporarily free plugins which could be activated in a short period of time for just one machine...
so I patched them as well to get them working on any machine at any time. Same applies to free offers that require
an online activation (like iZotope plugins) - now they also work on my offline machine.

Is your DAW by any chance Ableton?..
I was hoping you had a passion for editing that software, cos i was wondering if it was possible to remove unwanted audio fx & instruments from a copy of Ableton Suite
