This actually is what happened with Windows 8.
Luckily for us PC users MSoft failed miserably with Windows phone .

As a self-proclaimes Apple Fanboy you should know that Apple changed the naming schemes for macOS Nicknames from wild cats (Panther Tiger, Lion, etc.) to scenic american landmarks from OSX Mavericks onward.

"Big Sur is a rugged and mountainous section of the Central Coast of California between Carmel Highlands and San Simeon, where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the Pacific Ocean. It is frequently praised for its dramatic scenery. Big Sur has been called the "longest and most scenic stretch of undeveloped coastline in the contiguous United States," a "national treasure that demands extraordinary procedures to protect it from development" and "one of the most beautiful coastlines anywhere in the world, an isolated stretch of road, mythic in reputation." Source: Wikipedia ;)

Guys we're not only dealing with Warez stuff here, but since Catalina, there are simply old plugins that never will get updated once they stop working, as they are abandoned by their editors though people still use them (Rob Papen Albino for example, amongst probbaly hundreds...)

lots of thoughts, too much to even bother writing fully
ARM = Macs go cheap?
    ARM = no Thunderbolt? :no:
    upcoming Intel-based new Macs?
tons of (not just audio) hardware trashed due to lack of any drivers?
BigSur = touch support mess?
BigSur = graphical user interface mess?
    2-year transition seriously lol?...

I'm "stuck" with High Sierra because of Apple vs. nVidia wars, and I can tell you my 5-year old hacky with i7-5820K @4.3GHz and GTX1080Ti still beat MacMini 2018 so I can comfortably wait few more years hopefully till ARM storm gets settled down,
and as long as there will be bazaars full of 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th gen. Intel Core used gaming rigs, hackintosh is pretty much way to go, without the Catalina/BigSur hassle..
    :chilling:

True. We all know the key to understand a computer Operating System is Geography.
That's exactly why I've always used Windows

True but this is not unique to Mac - try running some ancient Windows plugins on Windows 10 and there will still be some issues with .net or other dependencies.

Get an GTX 7xx and you're stuck no longer - natively supported. $40 bucks used or so. 7th Gen i7s are still pretty expansive because it's the prefered CPU of PC Gaming Masterrace peasants.

what a coincidence, my old good EVGA GTX 770 Superclocked just died about 8 months ago
integrated graphics is also natively supported, so that's probably my safe bet for future,
PCMR is obsessed with Ryzens right now, which is great for hackintosh-friendly hardware deals

my 2008 mac pro tower was getting starting to get sluggish, and no way was i going to shell out over 1k for a decent mac :suicide:

grabbed an i7 4770k, 16gb origin gaming rig for 200$ + rx 570 + opencore. nvme drive works through pci (over 1gbs r/w for samples) and TWO thunderbolt 2 ports that work with my apollo x, could not be happier on mojave!

If it wasn't for Logic I would've never left windows - if anyone has experience with a windows counterpart they can recommend LMK - reaper and FL were a no go for me

But seriously if anyone is considering hackintosh, DO IT! If you have a PC just watch youtube videos for OPENCORE, grab an extra cheap SSD, pull out your windows drive and give it a try :phunk:

Bwahahahahahhaha Thats funny , am from India , and would love to add it could be "Big Surr Ji" [ ji if for (respect) ] for that exec also, i'll stick to mojave, don't have a second machine to check everything so will save myself the downtime, i vaguely remember some of my Legit Hornet Plugins went blank on mojave when developer updated them to work with catalina , So there is definitely something very different in the structure of the plugin acceptance code.

This philosophy must have died with Steve Jobs unfortunately.
I'm sick of Apple breaking things that work well.
