    And then we will finally win our first world cup by taking revenge on Germany, Argentina and Spain :)

    @Xupito

    Haha, also at diving on the ground and doing karate kicks :)

    I think I wouldn't go louder than at least -8 for genres like house. Of course they need to be louder, because they need to pump and no dj is ever going to play your house track when it's on like -14. I have heard tracks on -3, but that's just noise to me. Why can people like this?

    I guess than it would be preferable to master to -14 LUFS (or even -16 LUFS), because once you maste to -8 LUFS you already killed a lot of the natural dyamics. Of course this also depends on the style of music, since some popular genres are based on saturation, distortion and extreme dynamic compression and are not fond of a natural, transient-rich character of the music. Please correct me if my reasoning is wrong.

    One additional question: I mastered a song to -14 LUFS (according to Youlean Loudness Meter - which I believe is a reliable tool), but sounded considerable quieter overall than commercial music on streaming platforms (including Youtube). How is this possible. LUFS measure loudness (similar to RMS) right? So if the loudness (not only the highest momentary peak) is the same, how could one sound quieter?

    I found in the past very interesting comment on the sister site. I took a screenshot for the future.

    It is often believed that a song sounds big because it has good mastering: this is true only to a small extent, in reality most of the work is in the mixing stage. Unfortunately no one has yet invented The Magic Plugin that turns a mediocre mix into a super hit bomb

    Well, in short that's because the loudness normalisations are just not working. They say every track will play on the same loudness, but that's totally not true. For instance a track on -8 will still sound much louder than a track that's mastered to a 'recommend' loudness level like -14.

    You have to master your tracks in a way what sounds good. Try to listen with your ears, while not paying a lot of attention to meters or 'recommend' platform levels.

    I think thats rubbish. i dont know what "YouLean" meter even looks like but it sounds like its a dogshit plugin
    Anything well made by a respectable developer doesnt mention about this - because its not an issue.
    Waves & Izotope give different LKFS results? no, they dont unless its a different weighting

    Loudness normalization limiter on youtube works as it should, I published a test to demonstrate it (page 1 of this thread). Maybe you are talking about that known psycoacoustic phenomenon: a heavy compressed/limited song is perceived “louder” from our brain despite its volume (but actually it isn’t).

    I agree with you when you say that we are not forced to follow the imposed youtube rules: if I love my -6LUFS mastering no one will stop me from uploading it

    Oh, I thought at first you mean Frenkie, hahaha. I agree this was a horror attack. He should have got a red card, but I quess the referee didn't do it, because he just didn't want to ruin the final already so early. So we were lucky.

    Now Iniesta is the most hated player in The Netherlands, hahaha. But no, he really isn't. He was absolutely a great player with his mate Xavi for Barca and Spain.

    I see. Yeah, I believe it's being done aswell, but I quess the most important thing is how we as people perceive it. I think in that case it's not working to at least to our ears based on how it seems or on how it looks.

    Oh, yeah, I quess, hahaha. It's funny though how your brain can perceive tracks very differently. For instance when you are already used with listening to louder tracks, then more dynamic tracks will probably sound very soft. If you are used with listening to more dynamic tracks, then louder tracks will feel like your ears are burning.
