Hello everyone, what kind of compressor is it? VCA?

 

eli Arousor is modelled after their Dist(ortion comp)ressor which is a digital controlled analogue VCA compressor. So the simple answer is, yes.

The Arousor is a superb compressor.
If you are interested in the concept, I recommend you the latest Plugin Alliance, the Neold V76U73.
You enter a magnificent tube preamp which then sends the signal directly to a compressor.
The result is surprising.

Personally, I would buy the Arousor when the ilok USB Dongle is no longer needed.
For the Neold, I'm waiting for Black Friday

 

Although this one seems to be better than Audified's u73b emu, Arousor is pretty different and I wouldn't say you can compare them.

 

In my opinion arousor is more "like" 112dB Big Blue Compressor

@shankar Tested on a drum loop! Seems inclined to add punch and then adjust it with the "mix" to get a kind of ny compression! not bad, but it's not very similar to arousor in my opinion! Anyway for "nasty guy" I just tried it and I already uninstalled it! I like having few plugins .. Only the ones I use! And it doesn't concern you anyway! Sorry for my English..

@em4 , Sure, the plugin that's right for me isn't necessarily the one that's right for you.
The most important is what you will do with it, and the result

Personally, I find it perfect.
It's subtle and it brings a "je sais quoi" that is very pleasant and very musical.
I can adjust it in three clicks and it's just perfect for my workflow.
I really like plugins that give me results very quickly.

 

Ps. @shankar @No Avenger Which uncommon compressors do you recommend to try? With weird additions like arousor, Big Blue Compressor, SUPERCHARGER GT, etc..

 

Maybe you will like UBK-1?

Right, this one's uncommon and weird and not stable on my system, sadly.

When it comes to uncommon compressors, you may also like to try ACME Opticom or Analog Obsession Yala.

 

I'd prefer it with a few more buttons! and with adjustable saturator maybe!

 

Oh these kids today, never satisfied.

Klanghelm MJUC comes to my mind, but is it uncommon? Not really.
Voxengo Deft has this too.
