    Hello,

I post this topic because Im very very suspicious about what I can read in some forums and tutorials in the web and I think Audiosex is the best forum to have answers.

I listen a lot of new music like Future-Deep-Electro House or EDM or Dubstep and Im not sure it's still effective today to observe all the rules that were used since now. For example I feel really near professionnal sound when I mix and produce my song with an effects chain on my master track. I also can't respect the rules of having -1 dB True Peak or limit the LUFS to -14 because my goal is more -8 dB LUFS and I heard that Skrillex have -4 LUFS in official videos on YT.

Can some people with a good experience can tell me if Im crazy or is it really the what sound good is good even if it's not the same for other music like ballad or pop scene.

    Thanx for watching

    That's correct. [IMG]

We need more information to confirm this. [IMG]

First part, on principle, yes, second part, of course. The demands for different genres are different. No one will master Classical music or Blues at -4LUFS - unless he's bonkers.

-1dB TP is to prevent D/A converters from clipping, so this is a good thing.

The thing with the LUFS value is, most platforms have a LUFS target, so your tracks will be lowered if they're above that target (they will also be lowered if the TP is above -1, in some cases above -2).
Nonetheless, these are not laws and you can master your tracks at any LUFS you want, but should be aware the consequences.
Additionally, the higher the LUFS the more difficult it is to avoid unwanted audible clipping and maintain a good sound.

also is there a plugin already cracked like mastering the mix REFERNCE that allow instant comparaison of your master channel with 3 or 4 reference track in terms of sound, level, TP, LUFS,
I use Izotope Insight but it's not convenient for reference... Ozone let you use a reference in his plugin but this plug is CPU hangry

Or acoustic jazz or easy listening or most acoustic-based music where natural dynamics are high priority and additive or forced loudness is avoided.
