    Hey Bros,

me and a friend of mine are singer & songwriter for years, and now want to add Playback souds from a PC/ oder Ipad to our show.
We tried out different settings but none of them we are confident with.

Does anyone play shows with additional playback devices, summing up a solo guitar or voice? What kind of settings work best for you?
I think we should have a click beat in ear, not to be forced to let a beat run at the beginning of every song. So we should think about a multitrack device and soundcard, to split up the signal - but thats just a thought. Maybe some of you are already working with setups for live playing you are confident with.

I am thankful for any setups posts, ideas and links.

    Cheers
    LH

That's exactly what a lot of live acts that incorporate a computer do. I do this with the drummer i perform with sometimes. We have ableton live with a mini controller with pads to trigger loops and a multi-output soundcard to send the click. Minimal config but simple enough to allows to plays live without flaws.

Cool and thank you Phenomboy, we thought of such a configuation too, but we didn´t work that out. What kind of controller and soundcard do you use for your shows?

We play post-rock and indie rock.

We use 2 laptops on stage.
First laptop is near the drum, it's used to play some Rhodes, and has a few percs loop and sound FX. It's controlled with a 2 octave keyboard, and is a playback machine otherwise. It carries clicktracks too.
We use it with an alesis interface. it runs Logic. The sound is split : Left is for clicks and go to in-ear monitoring, Right goes to PA.

Second laptop is on the left of the stage. It is for organs and moog-ish basses. Me (bass) and the guitarist use it with a Novation Launchpad. It runs Ableton. it goes stereo to the PA. The interface is a 25$ Berhinger 2 I/O shit. cheap as dirt, no preamp. It's enough for what we need.
The different chords are set as clip. And sometimes we use it directly to control a track.

Search for "Kwoon", and "Kwoon Live" on youtube to see what it's about.

Ok, cool setup, and very nice youtube vids. i like that!
the 2nd laptop, taht is stereo connected to the FOH is for live playing the hosted Instruments like Moogy and organ stuff, right? otherwise, is there a possibility to synchonize clips between PC1 and 2 to stay in sync? I do not think so, but i don´t know, either.

    Thank you for sharing!!!

Not in our case (it's pretty quick'n'dirty), you can sync two computer using MIDI and use one of the DAW as a slave though (so it receives tempos and beat sync from the other).
Best use scenario would be to use only one computer, and fairly long MIDI cables and a 4 outputs system.

    1,2 -> PA
3,4 -> stage clicks (so if one of the guys want some different clicks settings he can)

We use a cheap behringer too and for controller, we use a naonext crystal ball which has cool pads, sometimes an APC40.

Ps: PMS are you from Nantes ?
