First of all I think it's good that Behringer are releasing affordable synths, and now everybody can try them.

As SineWave pointed out the BCR2000 was a great midi controller, but now they have a gap in their product lineup. I own a few vintage analogue synths, and I find I can get close enough with VSTi plugins if I use Nebula, so my hardware synths are mostly gathering dust.

I'm using Reaper too, and I want to set up my system like in the article below. The MFT is good, but I want more encoders so that I can directly control my core plugins without having to switch banks to remap the encoders.

    https://reaperblog.net/2019/04/midi-feedback/

I looked at the Panorama P1 and also their keyboard models, however I'm not really a fan of proprietary 3rd party wrappers. Faderfox are moving in the right direction, but I want more encoders, at least double the amount they have on this model. I think it has 16 groups that allow you to control a total of 256 control parameters per setup though.

With Reaper (and maybe some other DAW's, too) Panorama P1 DOES NOT USE WRAPPERS. I mean: there is no "plugin inside another plugin" like everybody else is doing. You just put a special .dll to your Reaper folder and it magically takes care of everything.
So with P1 (within Reaper and some other supported DAW's, I guess) you can:
    • see instrument parameter names
    • see parameter values in their native units (not just 0-127), so if your plugin shows e.g. cutoff point in Hz, P1 also displays values in Hz!
    • use mappings supplied by Nektar (if you like them)
    • create you own mappings or overwrite the factory ones
    • use automatic mappings for those plugins that have not been mapped by the developer nor by you
    • and much more...

And I have to admit that the guys at Nektar really suck at marketing. Not using wrappers is (in my opinion) the key selling point for this product, yet they don't mention it anywhere clearly. Most potential buyers simply don't know how it works and what it can do. A missed opportunity.

Did you seen this one ?
Reverb pretend "Black musicians paved the way for popular music throughout history and continue to lead the way."

My ancestors were playing popular music before ANY black ppl touched my country's ground (France).
Same with Germany : best classical music country EVER.
UK is the best modern pop music country ever. And most UK song writers are WHITE.
Black ppl learned to play modern music in classical and popular music schools.
    Not in africa.
Jazz is a blend between classical and blues, with improvisation.
    And on and on ...

    Here it is :
    https://reverb.com/news/reverb-stands-with-the-black-community

I'm white and i just stopped looking at Reverb offers. You are pro black ppl just because they are black ?
So sell to them ... only.

Same with covid19 propaganda (killed less ppl than 2017 flu)
It is time to stop "1984" society NOW !

Well, they were obviously talking about USA in 20th century, not Europe.
And jazz is certainly not classical, even if some jazz arrangers/composers borrowed some stuff. It is also not blues, too, even if early jazz was quite bluesy.
Idk why you start talking about classical music, something that is almost dead as type of commercial music and orchestras are sponsored in all countries by their ministry of culture or something similar.
About influence of "black people" on popular music in the past - you are also forgetting reggae music, right? It was quite popular. South American music is also quite African-influenced.
Still, black people dominate the popular music in USA (except that hip-hop has barely any musical qualities and their message is beyond retarded ).

Idk what all of this has to do with Behringer's synths.

And Bitwig, Reason, S1 (at least for all native stuff, not sure about plugins in S1, cuz I don't really use it), too.

On their site they list: "Bitwig, Cubase, Logic, MainStage, Nuendo, Reaper or Reason for a completely integrated experience"

Still, I would say that clicking everything with a mouse and keyboard shortcuts is the fastest way to work in any daw, if you are familiar with it. Twisting knobs and faders and pressing buttons may be more fun, but is less efficient.

Haven't seen the new Behringer releases yet, i'm eagerly waiting for a Jupiter 8 clone. Since Roland is reluctant to clone their best synth ever, it is Behringer's job to do properly and with 2020 features too.
    Cheers

Their synths look so pure and clean on the outside, but have you ever taken one of their more expensive products (mixers, synths etc) apart? They are just Chinese mass-produced junk. Almost all components (faders, pots etc) are cheap, surface mounted and you need a small desoldering factory to remove and replace components. After two Behringer mixers failed within 2 to 3 years I will never buy or recommend Behringer again. Avoid getting sucked in by external cosmetics.

    @Zenarcist
I strongly encourage you to at least try the Nektar Panorama P1 - this could potentially save you some money and time. Personally, I have lost a couple of years and hundreds of dollars, trying to use BCR2000, Akai Midimix, Korg Nanoknotrol and some other devices to control VST synths in a satysfying way. If I only knew about Panorama back then...

    In my experience:
BCR2000 - many encoders indeed, but I can't memorize which pot controls which parameter. I made some custom overlays, but if I glue an overlay for e.g. Synapse The Legend, then it doesn't fit DIVA. Also, with MIDI CC certain things are not possible - e.g. exact tuning of an oscillator (there is an even, not odd number of possible values, so none of them equals exactly half of the scale - you are either a bit above or a bit under). This will always be the case with any MIDI CC controller. Not a problem with Panorama. Also, encoders in the BCR2000 are crap - so it basically gathers dust on a shelf now.
MIDIMiX - I have made a custom modification of this script: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=172908
My mod supports only VST (I got rid of mixer support). With this script the MIDIMIX can handle up to (24x3)+8=80 parameters and "remembers" values for every plugin in a session, so when you change channel, it knows where to do a soft takeover. But again... an overlay is needed, becasue I can't remember all those 72 parameters for knobs.
PANORAMA P1 - besides the advantages I already mentioned, it gives you access to 38 parameters at once (9 faders + 16 knobs + 13 buttons), but as you can switch banks for the upper 8 knobs, you can have way more in total. Also, I like how they implemented faders - they are not motorized (thank God! - I would not stand the noise), but they support soft takeover and the takeover point is always displayed onscreen - it really works great this way.
Also, as far as I know, Panorama is the only no-hassle solution for VST synth controlling (in Reaper) at the moment. I mean you don't need to use wrappers, you don't need to add anything to your projects, you don't need to launch any additional software or scripts that work in the background.

I was also thinking about getting that Faderfox or the Electra.One. But so far none of them can do what the Panorama does.

But... in case you already have the BCR2000 or e.g. a Midifighter Twister and you just want MIDI CC feedback, are you aware of ReaLearn?
It is a neat solution to handle controller mappings and parameter feedback in Reaper (not as neat as Panorama, but it works with any controller).

All they need to do is clone this while having it host the Diva vst.

There is a sufficient way around this and for any midi controller with few memory positions. Use a midi librarian soft. :)
    Cheers
EDIT: Forget it, i got it wrong lol, you meant you can't memorize the controls and it's understandable.

  17. I've watched Mario work for years. It's a hobby and he has no intention of selling his controllers, but I know that if he assembled a team to produce them on an order by order basis, he'd be a rich man. Only problem is, I'd want them all. Next problem is I'd probably end up just using the plugins GUI with a mouse. Old habits.

You're kidding right?? The 1200 doesn't cost upwards of $5k+ because there's 'no demand' for it. Not to mention Isla is hard at work on an SP-2400..
