Well when you say techno the rolling triplet bassline you have going there is much more tech trance than techno really. The whole stab line is more tech trance than techno as well and most modern techno tracks do not have a snare on every offbeat for example like you have going on here like a classic house track does.

Not enough build or variation throughout the track in general. Apart from a couple of note changes in the arp nothing much happens between 1:02 and 2:02 in terms of changes in layers of percussion, modulation of fx etc as one example.

Drums and percussion in general too minimal, lacks drive and are too repetative.

Look at some reference tracks in your chosen genre is the big key to getting a more pro sound. Listen how they change as the track progresses such as noting how/when extra layers of closed hihats may come in, extra offbeat percussion such as toms or white noise style drums may give extra groove and brought in as the track builds. Add layers of ride cymbals as you build to a break or out of a break into a drop back in. Add fx and white noise at 16 bar intervals to break up the monotony etc.

Consider multiple layers of closed hi hats, these give drive to the track or add percussion loop layers quietly underneath to help fill the spectrum and make the drums/percussion sound more full. Obviously low cut/hi pass these to avoid them clashing with your other parts of the track.

Stabs are thin and lack depth - think about layering multiple stab layers to give them more power and think about variation, filter modification, reverb/dry wet etc to give build and suspense at points like building in a breakdown etc.

maybe it wikll be good for your dopamine to stimulate your brain... you should listen to "spinning reccords" or new future house and deep house Master Groove to get inspiration at the end of the day amigo techno is DIE in 1980 in detroit infortunatly

Dude you should do some actual research - techno is one of the best selling genres on Beatport currently. It far outsells trance, D&B, future house etc.

All you're showing here is a severe lack of knowledge about the current music scene.

Not everyone wants to make commercial stuff like Spinnin push out and to say techno died in 1980 is laughable.

Clearly you haven't seen techno DJs playing at Tomorrowland and other massive festivals or seen that there are millions of fans worldwide streaming techno as well.

Like I said not everyone wants to make chart music but please get educated before you start slagging off other genres which clearly you know zero about.

lol you totally missed Bitmonkey's point.
    He said:
Some people just don't a f*ck about getting rich or famous.
They wouldn't make Techno if their goal was to reach the Top 10 Billboard Charts.
Techno is still underground music (well, sort of...) and I hope that it remains that way. For my taste it's a bit too big already.
But still nothing for the masses, and that's great

    cheers

i'm not into techno, trance or whatever genre this is... will try to create something similar one day though.
anyway what i can say is that there are some good moments in here so you could take it to a second level
i have to agree about it no being varied maybe try to make every instrument entrance count try some filtering etc
that's all the advice i can give
    good work keep it up

Everyday the boundaries between genres became more and more intricate and it"s a positive thing I think ... Maybe that can explain certain points in this discussion

I have a feeling that synth (started at 2:29) does not fit here (perhaps because of the melody or key), that this synth is taken from another project ...
maybe you should remove it from the track? and make a minimal techno track? =)

I agree about the snare drum sound - it is not expressive, there is clearly a lack of delay fx. and maybe you should swing it a little?

...and yes, maybe it's because I prefer techno no more than 125-126 bpm? =)))
