Touch The Universe (Timothy Ivory) is a designer of presets in ambient, trance, psy style that I have bought some from in the past.
Two weeks ago I received an email from him offering significant discounts:
$ 5 Any One soundset
$ 10 Any Three soundsets
$ 15 Any Five Soundsets
...
$ 50 Will receive all soundsets
In the same email, he said he was doing this because he was away from home, with the car's engine broken and without the economic capacity to fix it.
I sent him $ 50 to get all his presets (although I already have some of them). To this day I have not received anything and he does not answer my emails. I do not think it is a vulgar scam, but something must have happened to him, the earth has swallowed him up. As I say, in the past I have bought him presets and he has been in the business for years. It is really strange.

I do not think so. The $ 50 is for all 32 soundsets, not part of the group buy. And if so, why doesn't he reply to my emails?

The $40 and $50 dollar tier will of course receive all that entails and anyone bidding the full $50 dollar bid will receive all that is mentioned even if the objective is not met.

Yes, checked. The matter is very strange because there is no point in thinking that it is a scam. Presets exist, TTU has been in business for years, I have bought it before. However, 7 days after I sent the payment, I have not received anything and my emails are not answered. Something serious must have happened

 

Man I am sorry to hear that, I like that guy. I got that Email too but didn't think much of it, I found it a bit strange to be honest, because if you think you can just sell a bunch of presets and use the money to pay for a trip is a little bit, uh, weird. I always felt sorry for him because he reacted very emotionally and downright desperate when his stuff appeared on the other site. Hope he's doing well.

 

Yes, I also read that post on the sister site. I also like their sounds, so I was excited to get so many for just $ 50. And I also found it strange that desperate attempt to get money to buy a car engine. A few days before deciding to send him $ 50, I received an email saying that I had already obtained 25% of the buy group. Since then, nothing at all. I hope nothing bad has happened to him, because it is absurd to think of a scam

HIs stuff got stolen (credit card, phone etc). He wrote about that in KVR.

Seems I underestimated this site.


I got a few nasty replies on the sister site after a few of my soundsets showed up, that left an impression of negativity, but, alas, perhaps, it is as you say, in hindsight, my response was a bit dramatic.


Moreso, probably a response to being powerless to stop the trend, the flow, the underground (haha).

Suffice it to say, I am a dreamer, as a few at kvr called me, though I’m sure they were being polite, a more adequate word, crazy, is more the implication, but I will not argue against this, but what is more crazy to go on a trip in the middle of a once in a century pandemic?


Yet, I learned a lot and it was the best experience of my life. Alas, my car broke down, guys, in the middle of the freking desert. No recourse but to create this group buy. So, I have no ride, and bit by bit my situation worsens, until i find myself literally homeless in nashville and other cities, hanging with homeless people, sleeping at bus stations. MY LIFE HAS BEEN nothing but humbling lately, and that is okay.

This site and sister site are among the best in the world. Far from what it may seem at first glance, the sister site is a great place, also for developers who legitimately want to monetize their work. Microsoft, Adobe, Autodesk and many others would not be the shadow of what they are if their products were not as well known and used. And there is only one way to get it.
I have spent 100 bucks on your presets, and almost certainly that would not have been possible without the sister site

 

As in every open places, you'll meet all sort of persons, but the big majority are good people here.
