    Hi Guys,

The verse is pretty unremarkable in terms of sonics - standard pop shizzle; but for me the chorus really stands out because it has this unique pumping effect.

It's as if they distorted the guitar and synth, possibly added some multi band compression and then sent it all to a bus to be side chained (by something).

Apart from my above guesses, do anyone else have any ideas what processing chain I would need to create this specific effect? Maybe it's as simple as a specific plugin i haven't heard of (but i doubt its that easy).

The volume is just ducking really hard whenever the kick hits, that's it. There also seems to be a small lookahead on the ducking (looking at the waveform) so the ducking starts a couple milliseconds before the kick.

This can be achieved in many different ways depending on what DAW you use.

Just sounds like a percussive clean electric "funk guitar" layered with a supersaw-ish synth and they are both ducked to the straight and syncopated (alternating) kick. The synth swell represents the pumping/swelling the most. The percussive electric guitar is more complementary rhythmically.

Thanks for your thoughts! Yeah I can’t seem to get it to sound as effective as they did but maybe I just need to find the right sounds and practice some more.

I love learning small subtle effects, if you put together you can make a crazy track :)
