I am kinda new to this but, does any other DAW support Prefader and Postfader FX Inserts like Cubase? I am using Ableton but can't find anything like that. Only sends. Any other way I can do this work? I would like a detailed example maybe with screenshot if it's possible. Or is there any vst 3rd party plugin that I can use that does that?
Reaper supports Pre/Post fader FX, and has a really handy dry/wet pot per insert FX. The last time I mixed in Cubase I found it more tedious and confusing than Reaper, but that could've been just me, since I used Cubase only like a dozen times since 2007 [up until then I've been a heavy Cubase user since Atari times], so no wonder I had a bit of a hard time working with it.
Sorry, for the late reply. This is what I am talking about. For Example you have a Bass mix bus and those blue effects are pre fader inserts (not sends) and the orange ones are post fader inserts (not sends) Screenshow below. I feel like only you observed my message carefully @No Avenger XD. Sorry, I should have provided more information for everyone I guess. Check this video: . I am afraid this only exist in Harrison MixBus and Cubase. No other DAW. I googled a lot. Example: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=215050. I asked about Reaper first in another forum with some Vst Musicians but from the replies I got so far, I guess it doesn't exist in Reaper or Ableton sadly. But Idk if there any 3rd party plugin that can allow that to the workflow.
Are you sure it supports inserts? Cause I am using Reaper also I am just not that familiar with it as I am with Ableton or Cubase. I might just use mostly Reaper for mixing purposes and other stuff generally, if it indeed supports that. If you don't mind show me how with screenshots if you find time, cause I can't understand how we can do that although I searched somewhat in the I/O area and where we click on the routing of tracks.
You can set prefader fx always, per any project. If you need postfader fx style, just do this: 1. Bus with FX (prefader mode) 2. Track channel without FX, use fader, pan etc. 3. Put this Track channel into Bus. Simple, quick method). But if you have busses and sends, it may cause a lot of pain in the ass, because of such quantity of tracks channels, busses, sends etc. Simpler method: gain, pan utility plugins on first place, before any fx. Or you want this: "prefader fx -> fader/gain/pan/balance -> postfader fx" channel? In my case, i use reaper stuff, utility and fx plugins, prefader, busses, sends and my audio is great) and my workflow is fantastically fast and flexible, overly customized, optimized and has almost no limitations) but too simple. If you try reaper, please consider to get AndiVax configs, sws and some useful stuff from cockos forums/downloads sections. Last edited: Jun 29, 2020
Samplitude can do pre/post fader FX and Sends as you can see from the attached pic where I have a compressor before fader and a Eq after fader.
