Maybe it's also interesting to dig a bit deeper in how they made it.
Here are some examples that I like.

The tripod horn sound from War of the Worlds 2005

The start-up and especially walking from ED-209 in Robocop 1987 (which is actually a printer)

MUTO sounds from Godzilla 2014 (this movie is full of cool sound effects btw)

The radio telescope sound from Contact 1997 (creepy)

There is an interesting sort of leitmotif in a spagetthi western, it characterizes 3 guys, one guy is whistling, the other one tossing a coin or so... I barely remember it sorry, I think I've seen it somewhere in a Youtube video from Sideways

It's such ancient history now no one thinks of it but the sound of the light sabers from Star Wars is the best effect ever. The warning klaxons when HAL kills the hibernating astronauts in 2001 I always dug too. 2001 is wall to wall with good sound fx.

Ah yes, when searching for "predator laser sound effect" @ YouTube you'll get several results. The sound during the heat vision is also cool.
Talking about weapons. I always found the shootout sounds in Heat very interesting/unique/realistic (compared to other shootouts).

Yeah, Bud Spencer & Terence Hill, the German dubbed movies, belong definitely to my guilty pleasure list
About slap sounds, we can also add the Indiana Jones punch!
