I have heard it said several times that 90% of people use windows and Apple is for the " rest of us".
Why then are 90% of tutorials (Think Udemy, etc....) Done by instructors with Macs. And worse still they regularly forget to give the shortcuts for windows, after they have given the Apple shortcut.

Windows holds a global market share on desktop computers of ca. 75%.

This also includes regions where macOS is nearly non-existent as well as use cases where macOS doesn't make sense (like gaming). So if you look at some specific western markets like US or UK where it's something like 65%-to-30% and then subtract everything that's not media production, DTM, etc., you'll get close to a uniform distribution of Windows and macOS (latter might be even higher in the professional field).

Or the short answer: The tutorials in question are done on Macs just because the respective instructors use Macs.

Most of the tutorials you see are done by US/UK based people, where Apple computers don't have insane additional markup added on top of the US dollar value. Here in central Europe it was common to ask friends/family to buy a Mac in the USA and bring it home because of the wild differences in pricing.

Also keep in mind in the USA Apple invested a lot into making Macs commonplace at schools and universities, so this has helped them gain plenty of popularity. Add to this the fact that for audiovisual work it used to be a fact (in the 80s-90s) that Apple computers were way ahead of other computer-based systems. Things have changed a lot since then and there's not much difference either way, but people in these fields really don't want any change and just use what they have always been using.

It is also a lot easier make screen video and audio recordings on a Mac.

Yes I know, a friend of someone's uncle, that someone's aunt knew because her step sister's cousin's neighbor was having an affair with their parish priest once said how easy it was to record screens on Win10 once you install some haxed warez and change reg entries with 10 keygens and get some more hax and that it just takes like 10 hours to setup, so easy, its the best

The truth is you can't beat / It's built into the operating system and it works /

Not so much of an issue as of Windows 10. There's built in screen recording that's part of "Game Bar", but works for most other audio applications. Recording the output of a DAW is more of a tricky one, but it is also tricky for Mac - both platforms require additional software trickery to accomplish.

yeah, this fucking room at school, full of macs, everybody loved this room.... It was always a big hassle xD

Its really simple. Many people prefer to work with macs, and many other people prefer to work with windows. But yeah, I find it a little weird, too that many instructors have a mac (feels like 60% sometimes)

But for home recording it really shouldnt matter
