Trust me when I say the only piano you will need is The Woodchester Piano by Fracture Sounds

If you want a completely free library, you can try SampleTank 3 or 4 piano library (inbuilt)

That Kawai was well done. A little bit cheesy sounding but nevertheless pleasing when you consider we were at the beginning of piano sampling. I wonder if the people who worked on that plugin sound made anything else in the future.

There have been numerous libraries with the same approach. When the raw piano sound is not convincing, developer needs to put a lot of bells and whistles, mainly atmospheric pad sounds.
In the video I could barely hear the low range of the piano, either he intentionally played the left hand extremely low velocity or it's all the library can offer about dynamics.
This is a mellow pianoish pad library that gives you a – at the moment – trendy sound, while the taste of this Billie Eilish generation remains.
Usually pad sound gets boring really fast.
Just a side-note but I think this pandemic is giving a punch on the face of the melancholic self-victimizing EMO 2.0 generation, they will have to get up and act as their parents got no more money to finance their selfish laziness. And the time of the movies presenting this annoyingly boring mood is soon over. So does of their soundtracks.

If filesize is your priority why not go full modeling. Pianoteq beats most sample libraries out there, takes up no HDD space and pretty much no RAM and is very customizable.

It's not that strange: stuff changes with time and people might look for older or newer stuff. I don't know how many people would have suggested Pianoteq 5 years ago for example. ;)

Haha yeah- Original poster from December 2015:
So, **** the <5 Gig libraries
I've got my 450 Gig Spitfire Hans Zimmer Piano. :bleh:

But wait ... everyone dumped that for Pianoteq ....

Anyway I am more into prepared pianos these days and I love the sound of "Gonad Essenses"
Nothing like the sound of nutsack-dampened chords.

What! How did I miss this one!

IKR! I would have missed out on playing around with The Woodchester Piano had this not been brought back up.

And sometimes the old ones miss things as they zip on by. So by all means, bring up the past! (What is this thread like 7 years old?)

I've used pianoteq back in 2008. A teacher brought it in and said this is the evolution of piano plugins. It was around 20-50Mb in size but it was still in premature state. Now it seems he was right

The most Piano Librarys are depending on the situation Good enough for Pro composing, but my fav. are from Ivory, 8dio 1969 Steinway, 1928, Yamaha C7 from Keyscape ( Omnis ).

I jut got reaquainted with Sampletekk's White Grand (MkII) and I love it. Probably not great for solo piano but compressed in a mix it has that classic 70s piano sound- very real vibe and cuts through. Defnintely going to rebuy it for $30...

Those are really good especially thinking of the relatively small size, but imo last version of pianoteq is a rule changer.

Well, I would say fifty-fifty. It has a bit boxy sound and dynamics doesn't fit much, it reminds me an old version of pianoteq but of course it's a subjective matter.

I would say it could be the only one if you're doing cinematics but imo not much usable for daily piano practice, nor for classic pieces.
It's very similar to NI Una Corda, by the way.

You didn't see my custom dedicated server room piano...:bleh:

I like Synthogy Ivory II for a soft piano, or, my Korg Kronos2.
