Slightly off topic, thEQ blue orange and red are very hard on my gpu (which is integrated on my CPU Xeon E3 1275 v6) without doing anything, just the plugin window open, no spectrogram running, no processing whatsoever, i don't have any other high impact on gpu with any other plugin, and i have a lot installed, DAW doesn't change anything, same values on Ableton and Reaper (almost 50% on gpu), my guess is that these MAAT eqs are conceived only for professionals with supercomputers, the price is the proof of course, but doesn't explain this impact on gpu while not "working" anyway.

 

Again, you already posted that but you didn't understand the last part of my post, the resource on gpu requested by the plugin doing nothing doesn't have sense anyway to me, i mean, 50% gpu only for the plugin window opened is just stupid to me, only Santa Cruz is taking less resources, it's still nonsense to me

This doesn't change the fact that this plugins shouldn't demand so much gpu doing nothing, and since they seem well done and good sounding ones that have even less sense but i can understand that since the price is so high they don't give a fuck about "normal" users, if you spend so much money it probably means you are able to spend five times or even more for your pc.

Since the result of your apples to apples null test is such that there is virtually no difference in audio with the added bonus that it is so much less power hungry, I'm gonna definitely buy the thEQorange to support the Dev. Thanks, Tiger!

Neither, I think I've finally lost my mind. I haven't compressor compassion and wouldn't logically buy an overpriced jumble of ones and zeroes that behaves the same as one that cost zeros and zero. Does for me; a friend claims otherwise, though I haven't seen any proof of that (he just texted me the claim during the plugin shoot-out.) EQuilibrium is easier on my CPU despite how many bands I have or quality I have it set at (damned if I don't love the deep settings of DMG's plugins,) but I have an older PC with middle-of-the-road performance capabilities (4GB RAM, i7, running Win7Ult.x64, etc.,) which kind of requires plugins that perform their duties without demanding all my resources at gun-point. He's running Win10 with better capabilities as per RAM, etc...though I'm not sure how that would affect anything as per a comparison.
Just my two-cents...

 

It could be a problem with the CPGPU(APU) drivers. Especially since Xeon APUs are less used in music, so less tested.
For instance, I have a very old Nvida GPU and in Windows 7 time Waves plugins ran fine. Since like Windows 8.1 half of them max out my single core performance and my GPU.
Both plugin and driver developers expect us to have a modern and popular CPU/GPU.

Ok but according to your statement i should have issues with other plugins too, an example, arturia plugins were impossible to run in my old machine, the gui are very fancy but i don't have any issues now with the Xeon cpu with integrated graphics in it, i have a ton of plugins and not a single one gives me this problems so i'm not so sure, since you made an example with Waves plugins i wonder if you have MAAT plugins installed. My CPU/GPU is not popular but brand new anyway.

 

It's true that Waves plugins are the only ones that have ever given me this kind of problem. Well, probably more plugins/apps that I haven't tested. Or barely tested.It was reported on the internet by other users. So that part I can confirm.

But I'm afraid I can't help you with that concrete Maat plugins problem. Your APU is totally different (and faster lol) than my CPU/GPU.

And the driver problem it's only a guess. Could be other things.

 

Yeah, maybe is the driver, maybe not, i will not update until i'm forced to since 99% of plugins works perfectly fine so fuck MAAT i guess

 

they ended Wibu support, if some of you has Wibu dongles they will send you 30$ for it

Knowing that thEQorange and thEQred can tax some hosts, we made some changes to reduce the CPU load. Also, there is the optional “CPU Saver” mode for when your host simply can’t cope. On my ancient and wimpy MacBook Pro, I have to run those two products in Low resolution mode just to pass clean audio.
