Hey, I (MacOS user) am currently migrating to Motu DP from Ableton , I really miss something like Simplers Slice mode where I can load up a Drumbreak and chop it up fast and dynamically... there is probably a time consuming way to do something similar with DP Stock plugins but I am looking for an alternative to that, so something like Abletons Slice Mode in Simpler would be nice (K'ed), I tried to search for Serato Sample but i found no cracked OSX version unfortunately, I also remember barry beats doing everything in kontakt but it looked rather tiresome, not sure if thats what i want :/

I believe you can host Ableton as a ReWire slave with MOTU DP to use Simpler.
TXW16Wx is handy for stuff like Simpler.
Maschine has a similar but different sample slicer. Same, same but different.
Reaktor has some insane sampler devices, plus the fact that you can modify and compound all the cool stuff you find.
There are a host of different virtual samplers that do similar things but I've honestly no found one that works as well than Live's Simpler with a Push 2 controller.

I have never used Serato Sample, so no idea there.

not a fan of using 2 DAWs at the same time, want to avoid that if possible
ive tried txw16 after creating this thread, didnt like it that much
just discovered how to slice beats in DP itself, doesnt look that awful if i pre route the stock plugin
you are right, reaktor sounds promising, will check out

yea i think recycle would be an interesting alternative aswell, stylus does unfortunately not work (keygen doesnt open)

Maybe Accusonus Regroover or Tal-Sampler may work.
Regroover is actually pretty cool for solo'ing/muting and rearranging breaks. And it's also pretty easy to use.

Edit.Forgot about iZotope Breeaktweaker and XLN Audio XO (which is super fn to use.)
Battery would be at the Top of the list but i would use that more for one shots since the editing is destructive.

TXW16Wx is exactly what you need and it has the slice function, recycle and stylus RMX they are not samplers and on top of that, they are ancient... Good luck!

If you're able to trust that I completely understand what you're after.. the best option in your position is to buy serato. The times haven't caught up yet and there really aren't options at the moment. They're all missing something, mess up the workflow or dated and unintuitive.

Serato and the MPC software are the two best options.(imo)
But not everyone is using the Hardware from Akai.Which is a great combination. The editing is outstanding and it's non destructive which is a must for me.

Did you know that there's a free 1-track version of Serato Studio (Mac and Win) that includes the same time stretching and pitch shifting engine?

what does that mean, 1 track? the limit is that you can only use one VSTi instance? does serato studio
    include serato sample?

Studio is a DAW on its own so I would rather use it to edit and prepare loops for use in your main DAW.

i could do the same just fine in ableton (+ DP), but i want to do everything in one DAW thats my main issue :(

i will maybe try that plugin again... but i didnt find it so intuitive compared to the native way of chopping breakbeats in DP
does it has a sensitive slice marker detection feature?

Don't give up on RMX, it's still great for remixing breakbeats. Installing needs patience but there's some helpful info here.

cant install it, keygen doesnt open (probably outdated)
the mac os torrent is pretty old, maybe i should try to just install it without keygen and use one of the newer updates? maybe they provide a keygen then or so? no clue

As I said in my previous post, TX16Wx is exactly what you are looking for and it's free. Here is a little tutorial showing you how easy is to slice and a loop and drag n drop the midi into your DAW.

i remember back in the days when switching from Reason to Cubase, i truely was missing the "edit drumbreaks" that was so easy and fast in Reason back in 2008 or whenever.

there where no easy solution back then, i dont see there is any easy option left for you now sadly.

i would sudgest you split up the task, and you use the tools you know already and make it work anyway.

consider your new DAW is your "level up" your "more advanced mode" but you still do the "old trusted way" when your doing the slicing and whatnot with drums. - that way you wont end up "waisting time" by figuring out a new way of solving your workflow.

    Really? I'm surprised by that.

If generative composition is your thing, (and if I remember correctly it is =P) it's one of the most useful & easy to use samplers I've ever come across.

Especially if I'm stuck on ideas. Just throw a random track on there, match the key and hit randomize. You'll end up with at least a couple usable chops. Hit the lock button for the ones you like maybe create a start and stop and then rinse and repeat.

Sometimes, I will usually end up resampling the chops into Maschine or the Ableton sampler so I can do more with them.

First download a random collection of disco, funk, oldie tunes and give it a try =)

You'll end up making a few tunes that you'd never even thought of otherwise.

hey thats almost perfect! but i get weird artifacts that sound like a sine wave after the sample is played, especially if i turn up the release, how do i fix this? changing the "transient filter smoothing" parameter didnt change anything, ive deactivated both LFO modulations and everything but it still plays this weird sine wave
