Auto-Tune is shit and everyone including Disney knows it so fucks me why anyone still uses it. Auto-Tune has a faster work-flow but who cares when all that happens is you come out sounding like a fucking android.

question : I just cant figure out how to fix what I can imagine being a very common issue... when I click and drag the blobs to correct the pitch of a note the "synthy" sound it makes is way too loud and very annoying, I cant seem to find a way to lower that volume, yes you can mute that function completely but you need to hear what you are doing. do you know if there is a way to control the volume ? thanks a lot!!!

The audience heard her WITHOUT sweetening but the broadcast feed was effected? The chotus is also off note in this video, I guess she hired bad singers for some reason too. She's no great singer, but she's not a bad singer who can't sing in tune on every line. I call bullshit on this video.

 

Well ok, if you want THAT sound. I'm generally trying to avoid that. For that Kanye West/Cher thing Autotune is defnintely the way to go.

 

irregardless of the validity of the videos, i will always stan for the performer in these situations. that is the just the culture of loyalty i come from. it is us v them -- the critics can suck it. as any performer knows there are 101 excuses for a few bum notes in these circumstances: nerves, poor foldback, memory, age, downtime from performance, lack of preparation time, life in general, etc. i am sure all of 'us' who have performed for any amount of time have used most of them. it could be better, but is is certainly not that bad to anyone who has listened to a lot of live performances. have heard worse in studio conditions by seasoned performers having a 'bad day'. the 'machines' are sometimes the most boring performers of all.

as long as you are not fooling yourself, and you get more 'right' than 'wrong', it is probably prudent to adopt this mindset in order to save yourself a lot of undue stress. i am sure the audience got what they wanted -- a performance.

 

You can use Autotune on more than just vocals.. if you're a mix engineer I'm sure you know this.. Autotune sometimes can not be heard on a vocal.. but it's still there..
