In a newly created Facebook group dedicated to DJing and production, the company posted a render of a stand-alone sampling groove box named “Jam”.
There’s no hard info yet, but the machine’s faceplate provides some clues about the features it might have. If you’ve ever used an MPC (or even just looked at one), you’ll feel right at home. The fact that Jam features a recording volume knob and sampler / sample edit buttons suggests that it will be capable of sampling on its own. The large display is accompanied by four soft encoders on the left.

Jam has 16 RGB pads arranged in two rows. As on many MPC models, there appear to be eight pad banks (A-H), accessible via four buttons. The MPC’s 16 levels, full level and note repeat buttons are all there. A touch slider takes the place of the fader found on many MPCs. The person who was in charge of the render at Music Tribe mistyped “NEXT SEC” (sic) while copying over button labels from the MPC. But other than that, they’ve done an excellent job at making it look like Jam will be pretty much a carbon copy of the famous AKAI groove box.

Wait, there is one somewhat original idea that caught my eye. It looks like Jam will have a 12 bit button, presumably to reduce the sample resolution to get that vintage MPC60 / SP-1200 vibe.

As of now, we have no idea how far along this project is. Behringer has been pretty busy cloning every analogue synth they could get their hands on (like the newly announced MonoPoly), but they’ve yet to release a fully digital synth or sampler. So it could very well be a while until Jam becomes available.

This company never fails to amaze me.

Next thing you know, they will probably end up cloning the E-mu II...

I am surprised they have not try to do so. There is a company that cloned the SP1200.

He has been taking pre orders for this month's delivery. However, having been screwed by Islas Instruments with delivery of the Kordbot, I would never hand Islas Instruments another cent of mine. With that said, the S2400 sounds awesome.

Yeah that picture leaked so they posted it. They're getting feedback, designs, ideas, ect "no matter how crazy" from the group and going from there. They also put together a team to develop a complete range of DJ equipment with samplers, controllers etc that will fully integrate with their coming free DAW which they say is in "full swing".

    And they said:
    Adding

They made a group along this line of thinking for synths and drum machines too. Believe it or not, a couple originals are in the works as well. One of them with input and a name from customers in the group narrowed down via a poll. There are some creative folks in these groups and Behringer is listening. I think that's pretty cool.

Seems pretty cool. But, if you're going to spend that much, why not just go with one of the Akai products?
The One,Live and Touch are all within that price range.

It took Akai 3 years to get the MPC in order. You think Behringer can pull off an MPC when they cant even get the sequencer right on an SH-101 knock off?

Becuae the Akai Software is developed by AIR.
AIR still sell their software which is completely buggy and refuse to fix bugs.
Thats why I'd rather invest into another company.

Good to know if this isn't a reliable company.

These are two unrelated products and the fact that the sequencer is taking some time doesn't mean anything on their ability to produce a MPC.

It looks promising, but they aren't out-MPCing Akai without a 4x4 pad layout.

Soon all smaller companies will be eaten by Behringer (Music Tribe). All you base are belong to Uli.

i have to agree a 4x4 is much better for me too, its less distance to travel for pads and muscle memory works more accurately in a smaller radius.
if the price was right though i would put up with 8x2

I hear you. I do finger drumming, so 8x2 I could never get with. But for triggers, it's actually probably better. Different strokes for different folks and all that.

They are working hard to fix the bugs from what i can tell.An update just dropped yesterday actually. I think they should work on routing the pads, that could definitely be easier. But it's pretty solid, Although i prefer to work in standalone mostly.

My fault.i thought a saw a price of $900 but i think i mixed up my threads.

AIR has nothing to do with the MPC other than the fact Numark also owns them and made them port their plugins to it.
