I'd make the snare at 2:11 more upfront and louder. And I find the drums in the middle part still too dominating, aswell as the open HH in the (almost) last part.

But I like the track, it's good.

@Master Of Disaster Definitely keep on keeping on with making tracks.
Personally, I'm not into the second track due to the two different key changes that you've put together. I know you're going for that DJ vibe, but you could at least pitch one of them to be 'relative' to the other in regards key, and also make it more exciting if you choose the right one. A semi-tone either way works. Or a fifth away. Or a tone and a half. All sorts. Just not what you chose!
First track is more promising. Yet I agree with another here who said to lose the Danny Dyer samples. Although that may seem like a big part of the track for you? But you don't need it, imo.

Yeah i meant to type 21 years ago..

Fuck me thas a long long time back ..

Sorry to be clear, although ive initially started on a Roland s760/Atari falcon/akai sumthin or other, erm, erm, i wanna say mx73 , and ive no clue if that exists even, or ax 73 but mx seems more likely,
it was fukn enormous though i know that much!!

And a few other bits, Oh and alot of records, golden age of viny n all that!l

But i dont really include it as a musical debut,

Back then it was about sampling, and in my tiny mind although id sit there for weeks cuttn samples n resamplin em n sequencing what id done, My brain didnt fully register the sampler as an instrument, even though it oh so much is a musical intrument, every bit as deserving of respect as any other,if not more so in cases, But i fell outta love with Jungle tbh n was moving into other edm based genres ,And for whatever reason i dont see it as when i truly started, which i know makes no sense.

i started as a teenager i guess , but at around 18/19 i was practically given an mc303 for a hundred n 20 big ones, with a midi c/v convertor , and actually got gifted a battered ms20, and an even more battered arp oddesy, and an edp wasp, now i realise ive misremembered it was with those that i got the cvgate to midi..

Played with em for under a year and i do regret selling them now, heindseight n all that!

but the analogue bits i had, funded me buying the second hand mc505 and then in part went towards the quasimidi gear/su10/that tiny behringer mixer, and a yamaha promix with a custom made loom i got i think around a month or so later.

"Obviously i was begging my mum and my brother to lend me some money coz i was still short after selling the ms20 etc etc"

All i know i was a late, or early 19/20 years old before i made an actual purchase myself' of what ive already mentioned in my original statement.

Of course my dates could be slightly out, After all, it was a fuck of a long time back, before my life got complicated!

    @korte1975 is right tbh
You can indeed hear two conflicting hooks.
You could simply delete the notes outta sync and use a delay with a highpass filter and say 40% feedback, and youd cover it completely.
Its hard sometimes becasue trying to explain via the written word isnt always easily applicable.
Im sure you yourself can hear it too.
But tbh, i look at it as early days for you , therefore i didnt want to simply point alot of mistakes out.
    It is what it is..
    A learning curve,
    But they are outta whack.
Initially theyre not out of tune whatsoever.
Its as the hook progresses and the notes change that you hear it goiing up n down in conflicting keys above n below the initial range of the hook it conflicts with
    .
"i cant read music so i dont know the correct note n terminology"

If i were you, id simply start programming something else.
Its way too easy to get bogged down in peoples opinioins, be it wrong or right.
Resulting in ones creativity getting stiffled, or at least for me it used to complicate things coz id spend way too long fixing the choon, and by the time id finish, my audience would be bored, as would i.
My honest suggestion is to move on and go with a new , fresh track..
Not because what youve showed us is terrible.
Its not, for a beginner what youve programmed is promising.
But even you yourself will get bored if you keep messing with it.
Just take on board whats been said and implement what you can in a different production.

Im gonna have to throw my DnB hat in the ring sometime..
i can go house n garage or trance even, but i dont enjoy programming them genres as much as i used too...

SU-10 came out in 1996. You are wrong. 24 years ago. Do the math.
I hear you've made many bad misjudgements in your life, this was just another of them.
Check the date on this link.

    hah
Never before has there been a more embarrasing moment for my eyesight to fail me. i read the poxxy 5 in the 1995release date as a 0.
Do you wanna try to poke funn at my clearly failing eyesight too.
mabye point and giggle at me as i walk on by.
    Perhaps throw stones too
    .
    But that to one side.

    "touche"

    When did this get personal.
Im not ashamed of anything ive gotten up to in my life , or that ive ever said.
Not in 43 years n sure as shit not now.
Not the least of which something you could embarass me with.

But its good to know your the type who'd try.

It's a pretty simple thread. How do these de-rails happen?

Took me quite a while to actually getting around to listening to these but here's my belated two pence.

It's really not a style to my liking so I'm not gonna lie and say I'm in love with it. It is, however, getting towards something that others will like. The mixing is currently way off, for me, in accordance with some of the things people like No Avenger have said. I would also agree that some of the samples are a little off and sometimes cheesy and out of place. Maybe if you toned them all down a little and leave them crisper they wouldn't punch my ears so much.

It does get monotonous, for me, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. You can't critique something helpfully and say monotonous because, my wife for example, sometimes loves the most monotonous things I've ever heard (and she's a.. well she WAS back in the day.. trained, orchestral bassoonist with a love for complex classics) . She just zones out to some very simple beats when she's working out/painting during lockdown here.

If you want critique on the basic composition you'll get a hundred different responses so I'd suggest just listening to the advice on the sampling, mixing and, overall, sound choice. Some really good tips in this thread so far on helping you get back into the swing with software that's moved on 10 years (just bells and whistles for the most part with what you're dealing with...). Really good effort for a decade comeback. Keep at it.

Once you the get the technical stuff down you can just put it out there and see who likes it.
