Hey there Audio peeps, this is my last resort !! so hopefully I'm not breaking any cardinal rules..
I am having a problem uninstalling Native instrument plugins on Windows 7 64. It seems windows cannot find the 'msi' files to perform the uninstallation.I have also tried the microsoft fix it tool without success..Native wont even let me re-install
    ..

Does anyone who has encountered this problem, know how to fix this ??
Preferably without having to do a clean install of Windows 7...
    :(

    :beg:

There is a hard way to uninstall appz: simply delete all it's folders and files, then grab some registry cleaner which allows you to search through your registry, and clean all related keys you find.

about 6 years ago i used jv16 PowerTools, you can check it. just don't forget to backup your registry.

I can feel you....i had that issue about two years ago and wrote down some notes in case it will happen again.
My notes might help you shorten your search. Here they are:

For example i have Kontakt 5, Battery 4 and Audio 2 DJ installed on Win 7 64bit.
Their 7240 ! registry entries are all related to the following folders:

    1) C:/Program Data/Native Instruments (invisible)
    2) C:/Program Data/ all related (invisible) program folders.
These are the ones at the very beginning of the folder. Their names consist only of letters and numbers.
    3) C:/Program Files/Common Files/Native Instruments
(important! In my case about 7000 of 7240 NI registry entries are related to that folder)
    4) Your VST and program folders and files of the concerning softwares

Delete all necessary folders/files and afterwards clean your registry as SAiNT suggested.
My favourite software for all kinds of problems with Windows is Windows 7 Manager.
This app is fucking awesome and has nice registry tools included too.
    Good luck!

edit: i forgot to mention these folders. Don't know why they have no related registry entries:
    C:/User/Name/App Data/Local/Native Instruments
    C:/User/Name/Documents/Native Instruments

By the way: the .msi uninstallers are invisible and located within the folders of 2).
You should take a look at this place first, maybe you can start them manually

Hey Alraun, thanks for the in depth guide. I actually deleted the program data folders a while back but copied them to an external drive.I tried putting them back and uninstalling from there, but still get the same cant find msi source error. Anyway I will follow your instructions, back up the registry and delete all the registry keys for each plugin I want to re install. I have all my dll 's backed up so If i delete every folder and the problem persists hopefully can still use the plugins..

Thanks again for the directions,Hopefully this will solve the problem.:guitarhero:
