I just installed a plugin called Permu8 (x64), but the plugin is not showing in Live 9. I had the same problem with Addictiv Drums, but AD was shown in Live 9 after I renamed the folder. (WTF?) But renaming doesn;t work this time. Does anyone else have the same problem??

Try to put it just inside the VST forlder, by example C:/FilesProgram/VST... Avoid doing this: C:/FilesProgram/VST/Part 1/Nice VST/Software/Plugin folder... That's just worked for me. Specially avoid have an Folder named exactly like the Matrix folder, example: AVOID THIS c:/FilesProgram/VST/u-he/u-he/Zebra2... RIGHT WAY c:/FilesProgram/VST/u-he/Zebra2... PERFECT WAY c:/FilesProgram/VST/Zebra2

    Hope this help!

I have 4 VST plugin folders like this.

    For x86 plugins:

    E:\VstPlugIns\x86\1. Instruments
    E:\VstPlugIns\x86\2. FX

    For x64 plugins:

    E:\VstPlugIns\x64\1. Instruments
    E:\VstPlugIns\x64\2. FX

Pointing AL9 x86 and x64 versions to E:\VstPlugIns. And it so it will only see bitspecific plugins.

Where I dont want to be
    E:\VstPlugIns\x86\1. Instruments
    E:\VstPlugIns\x86\2. FX

But just be careful re-organizing plugin folders... some will refuse to work if moved from original install location.

If you are going to use this type of structure, best to START this way on a fresh install, and install initially.. like that.

Hi. Thanks for replying. I have it installed in: C:\Program Files\VstPlugIns\Sonic Charge\Permu8 I have all my plugins installed in this folder, and all of them work perfectly, except for this one. And Permut8 does show up in FL studio, so it is a Live 9 problem. Another Live9 bug?

And installing it directly in the VST folder doesn't work either --> C:\Program Files\VstPlugIns\Permut8

Maybe an obvious observation but are you using Live 64x/86x with the 64/86x version of the plugin? If not you need jbridge.

Btw. My folderstructure is completely scattered around my HDD and the simple solution is to create a new folder with shortcuts to all the different VST folders and then point Live to that specific folder.

Here's something really strange: FabFilter Saturn (STEREO) 64bit doesn't show up, but the Fabfilter Saturn (MONO) 64 bit does show up. And I installed them together. And you know what is really, really strange? Fabfilter Saturn (STEREO) 64 bit did show up in my 64bit version of Ableton in the beginning when I installed it in Live 9, but it suddenly disappeared. It is still there, only Live9 cannot see it. WTF Ableton!!!!

I have Live 9 64bit version. I have 64bit plugin's. I have some 32bit plugin's with JBridge, and they all work perfectly. But some 64bit plugin's don't show up. It is a HUGE BUG and a lot of people have the same problem. And Ableton doesn't have the answer...They just say that I should use JBridge, so they don't take their customers seriously.

No, but I know you failed to mention if you're using 86x or 64x ^^

Read my first post: "I just installed a plugin called Permu8 (x64)..." etc. That means that the problem is with 64bit plugins, so it has nothing to do with JBridge. And that I use 64bit plugins also means that Live is 64bit to, because 64bit plugins don't work in 32bit Live9.

That's why I started my reply with "Maybe an obvious observation...". I can't smell your level of comprehension now do I?
As a general rule I urge people to provide as much detailed information as possible. Sloppy typos also contribute to interpreting someone's skill level (like Permu8 as opposed to Permut8.) But I'm guessing your ego doesn't need my help so as you wish I will refrain from any further assistance.

Oh.. and btw. I'm using both Permut8 and FabFilter Saturn (STEREO)64x in Live 9(64x). Running like a warm summer breeze. So happy hunting your 'WTF Ableton HUGE BUG!!!'

Ok, so the problem is my skill level, because I made a typo? Right. But can you tell me why I cannot see Permut8 and you can? I reinstalled Ableton and I reinstalled Permut8, but the problem still remaines. And Permut8 isn't the only program that has these problems and I am not the only one you has these problems. Just Google it and you will see that a lot of people have VST's that don't show up. Fabfilter disappeared after a crash of Ableton btw...

No, the problem is you having an attitude while someone is trying to help, not providing detailed info and simply blaming your DAW if things don't work...

As to why you're having problems, I don't know. Everyone's setup is different that's why you should be as specific as possible. However:

    1) When using warez Sonic Charge can be unforgiving. The guy that programmed Permut8 for instance is very nifty and put a lot of fail-safe code in his work such as timebombs.
    2) Even Ableton themselves recommends using 86x in a 64x environment: https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/64bit-myths-facts/
    3) When removing and re-installing plugins also delete your registry values as they are linked to Ableton Live's memory even when re-installing Live.
    4) Check all (hidden) folder. Fabfilter for instance also installs in My Documents\FabFilter and Appdata\Roaming\FabFilter
    5) When Live starts it will only run a fast-scan of your plugins. If you didn't check steps 3 & 4 you're fucked.
    6) To circumvent the above problem, disable external VST support in Live then restart, re-enable and restart for a full deep-scan of your plugins.
    7) Some plugins don't like to be installed in custom folders. Hence I use the "redirect shortcut to Live folder method". Have had no problems with a single VST since.
    8) When a plugin crashes Live and you choose to rescan and it and crashes again, Live will make it unavailable (like Fabfilter). Only reinstalling will make it show again.
    9) If all above fails delete the Preferences.cfg file in C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application Data\Ableton\Live\Preferences
10)Be nice to your DAW
