honestly i think youve bitten off plenty already hahaha
i would obviously love to see an update at every stage, but if we do not see you on the forum again until may i would understand.
i am following this more out of curiosity than to make sure you stick by the rules etc, so you should do whatever makes you happy.
i mean, you should always do that anyway, you dont have to wait for my permission. this time :D

that said, i would like to watch the social media pages grow from nothing to platinum record grade. that might actually be enough to make me go on social media. i wouldnt create an account or anything, but i would type the url into my browser and even press enter.

Hey, I just wanted to pop in and say that although I didn't participate in the vote (I'm more of a lurker) I am inspired and interested in your progress.
Often forums are just an outlet for talk/chat, which can sometimes be the antithesis of actually doing. Not knocking the forum - I've learnt a lot on here - but between here and checking out what's new on the sister site, sometimes I feel like there is a lot of time that could be better spent doing/creating.
So I wanted to let you know that you've inspired me to do my own challenge - I'm not brave enough to do it in public view like you, but have set myself a deadline of March 31 to record a cover song that I feel will be useful to my own playing/recording development.
So, thanks again for inspiring and motivating me to be more productive - and all the best with your own challenge, I will definitely be tracking your progress!

    @sevente thank you!

I sing, I write. My friends fail if I don't force myself out there. Curious about band/song you choose to cover, but if you want to lurk your path is chosen... Just put the results out there!

    Aw geez, thanks you guys.
The song is 'I Could Have Lied' by the Red Hot Chili Peppers - not too difficult and not planning to do anything radical. I already know a few of the licks, it's more about learning all the guitar and bass parts, especially John F's lead - and getting back on the horse after a long break from recording/creating, setting myself a challenge with a deadline.
    Cheers!

i propose a stand by on this project.
the challenge was to create a platinum record with 10 million followers in two months, not to create a platinum record with 10 million followers in two months during a global toilet roll crisis.
once the dust settles there are loads of ways to start up again. can worry about that when it comes to it.

Plat with 10 mill followers we can not do my friend. But, project is still rolling. Songs are up, bases created, everything insane but on track. At the end of the day we all have obstacles... Whatever we get to after 8 weeks is where it ends up. I chose a short period because no one goes from start to finish in 8 weeks, but a healthy start still possible.

I've done about 15 songs, social media all created, everything is on track. 6 weeks to keep the ball rolling, whatever happens, happens!

Also, I haven't done the requests here yet, building bases. The themes/genre here is coming asap, just needed a base. Appreciate the concerns, but life will always be difficult... Wish I was better prepared for this chaos, could have worked for me, but no lies, everything I'm doing created etc, all done from March 14th on. No cheating!

Time for a followup. I've mentioned I'm out of meds. My recording studio flooded...

When did this vote begin? That day life started turning to crazy for all of us. I've taken picture's of the "discarded" new recording studio, @The Pirate , you've mentioned you've recorded singers before. I really wish you could see this now. I'll be sharing the blue prints at the end of this project.

I deal with numbers. I'll do my best with means in reach for anyone that wants and wills to succeed. @tun I thank you, but the project, our lives hold for nothing. Everything moves forward. Everything is will power. It's in all of us and we all tap it different ways.

I can't guarantee that May 1st is the end all. I can promise that this isn't about me, it's about music, it's about harmony, it's about finding out what we need and want to do in a way that reaches everyone that wants to hear it.

And it's always more than we think.

    Yes. This.
The best thing you can do for others comes from the ability to do the best for yourself.

you are a truly admirable soul!
i dont know how you have managed 15 trcks in that time! i envy that ability. i get too caught up in meaningless mix tweaks. i probably finished 15 tracks total in my life
im looking forward to seeing the outcome of all this.

    We all have unfinished songs.

Why are they unfinished? Did we secretly not like them? Did it miss something... Anything?

I'll explain later, but honestly I messed this up. I've been working on it for 3 weeks, lots of songs (Short cuts taken), but there was a plan. After 3 weeks I can see I started this very wrong. Starting tomorrow I'll be re-branding, and throwing everything I've built away.

Sometimes those unfinished songs, are ties to something that needs to be discarded or just released and moved on from. They weigh us down so much, but that weight can be worse than their potential. Looking forward, I've still got over 4 weeks. Based on what I've seen, I'm moving on.

Timeline stays the same. This is how things go and shit happens. I'll share old brand and plan after but, new brand tomorrow with completely new songs.

    Stumble, don't fail.

it would be a shame to let all that work go to waste. at least keep some of the samples etc that you made.

Yes! But also, I feel that everything that I manifest musically is relevant to my own creative journey and learning, and keeping that channel open, and yet not always meant, or worthy enough, to be shared. To me, it's like every track is a step to that 1 in 5, or 10!, track that I am truly happy with. They are all steps forward, and I never "discard" them as such. It's great to listen back to something you made, discarded and forgot about. Maybe I use the bass line from it, or whatever.

Oh I agree! It's all been released, and forever available to everyone else. But... It's not tying me down any longer.

Sorry I'm out of sorts and about to philosophy dump, while agreeing with you.

Steps are just that, but they should be the past. We learn from the past, live in the current and plan for the future (stonlen). So those unfinished songs we learn from but never define us. If we let them, we live on that step. It's like coming from a small village. You remember your roots, but should grow and establish who you are.

IF you establish yourself as that step, your fans expect that step. But changes are coming, (specially when planned) and I'm really concerned about alienating a fan base, so I've realized my mistake.

Context, words, part of a story never read correctly so I apologize, but the whole story is... I built the wrong story, and I want to establish the right brand. /end verbal hurgerbalalalala

What you've just said resonates with me. I remember this truth.
But presently, I know I am not living that truth any more. I'm dealing with some hangups, as a result of some 'bombshells' that totally changed my perception of all of my life past.
All I can do is hang on to the fact that change is the only constant.
I know that you are talking in regards your project, but I feel that I have been spoken to.
    Thank you.

Hope you're doing well Smoove. I think the best (if ironic) part is life has flipped upside down for most of us and I "think" most people are listening to how others are affected. Whatever works for you during this is what your gut tells you, you need to do. No one else can tell you right or wrong. Now I'm just intrigued about your steps though haha. :)
